Since when does a loud mouth equal obnoxious behavior? To me obnoxious behavior is tree jacking or running the tree, face barking etc. I'm hunting a loud mouth male that stays put.Guess he's obnoxious too.I didn't know.lol

A dog being loud doesnt necessarily mean that mouth carries well. I had a blue dog with a pretty loud deep coarse mouth that could be outa hearing at 500 yards. I have a buddy with a trackman female that doesnt sound very loud in the pen but she has a high pitch scream on the tree that carries so well that he has had cops come to the woods because someone called them about a woman screaming for help in the woods. On a calm night you can hear her a couple miles.

Seems to me that prefering a coonhound to have a soft mouth is about like preferring your steaks to be tough, your gravy to be cold, your tires to be flat ,your checking account to be overdrawn ,and your mother-in-law to move in with you !!!!!!!

I certainly dont want to start a Lipper hate thread but Ive seen 4 Dr Law pups around a year old that are way above average loud . Bawl scream on track and Bawl squal scream and little chop on tree but LOUD ! And a young male out of Redgy Ramsey's Ivy female and Dr Law about four months old that is very very loud . I love loud dogs too especially if they have bawl mouths on tree . Just my preference .

I've owned two directly out of Lipper and lots of his grandpups , this would get My vote for the loudest strain of dogs.
The loudest individual I've ever owned, however,is a Bluetick that I own right now. His name is Super Grip and he is sired by Dual Grand Spring Hill Blue Jaggs. It is My understanding that most of Jaggs's pups have a tremendously loud voice.
As far as I'm concerned, when it comes to hounds, no matter what breed or even Beagles or Foxhounds I say the louder the better !!!

Ability first

I like a good mouth, but that doesn't mean they have to drown every other dog around out. It just means I have to be able to hear, and call them. My old female has a fair mouth, but nothing spectacular. My young male dog is loud. It is nice, but I would still rather have ability above a massive mouth any day of the week.
