Beans are rough on a dog. Cuts em up, makes em get hot, hard for them to manuver, while a coon can go right under the majority of the leaves. I will stick to my statement. Nothing positive ever comes from dogs getting in fields. Especially beans. Sure you will luck up every now and the. And run one right out of the beans right to a tree. But as sure as I'm typing this you will have far more headaches in beans then you will rejoycement.
To each his own but I totally disagree, treed several last nite on and around bean fields, at certain times of year here thats where you find them, in this country hard to turn loose without getting in beans. I have had my dogs run so hard and many nights in a row in beans it will wear the hair off their face.just because they strike one in a bean field doesnt mean they will be out there long.I dont hunt a dog that will be in there long, he is bringing him out in a hurry, no different than corn, wheat or milo all the same if the dog can handle a track. not saying they wont pop one up on the edge, but if the dog is goin down one side of the field and the coon is 3/4 across the other in a 300 acre field he better be able to handle that track, just saying I dont have any trouble but no matter how big the field or what is in it he wont be out there long and ol slough foot will be looking down at ya while bird dog is still goin down the edge. No problems here with beans or any other type of field. My opinion they better be able to handle it night in and night out no matter what or where it is, get tuff or move on down the road. No time for this ol man to be standing around listening to a boo hooing stand on there head kinda dog. You are welcome to come to west central indiana anytime and I will show you some bean field coons in a hurry, not bein smart just an open invitation, time to go hit the beans its getting dark. But anyhow I would never shock my dog for taking a track anywhere, I might get after him if he doesnt continue that track, but he better be goin and goin now to the end where rickie is.
