A song that I wrote--- The Old Hound Man Song--------- I pulled in his drive, coon hunting again tonight, He was sitting there on his tailgate crying, I just looked at him, He just shook his head....I put her in park and got out of my truck, I wondered what was wrong because he wouldn't look up, I just stood by him, He said Ol' Blue is dead-( Chorus ) You don't know how many miles I followed him, For 11 long years he was my best friend, He sure had a true nose, Blue was his next of kin--Across the rivers in the valley past the sycamore trees, He'd have his nose to the ground , I'd always honor his tree, He was always true, I'm gonna miss ya blue ( 2nd verse ) For 53 years he's had this line, Past down from his grandpa on his mama's side, Hunt'n was bred into them, Both blue and him... He bred the best to the best when times were hard, No fancy titles or easy entry cards, Whatever blue treed, Is what they would eat... ( Chorus ) You don't know how many miles I've followed him, For 11 long years he was my best friend, He sure had a true nose, Blue was his next of kin, He fell down to his knees started pounding the ground, Shook his fist at the sky and said you got my best hound, Please take care of him, I'm gonna miss you Ol'Friend....(3rd ) He reached in his pocket pulled his handkerchief out, then he mumbled some words that I couldn't make out, all of a sudden he grinned, as blue's puppy, Licked the tears off his chin..
