ive had good luck with older small toyota trucks-
when a truck will go 200,000 bear hunting miles with very little repairs its not good ,its a miracle
89 - 93 2.4 L cant be beat as a drivable dog box
u wont be passing anybody with it but just amazing the abuse they will take and good on gas -
im not knocking rangers--dont know anything about them - i owned a 69 77 83 89 and 94 ford full size- the 300 6 motor was bullet proof - they rode nice- constantly needing repairs to everything except the motor
I've had a few older toyotas in the past and them little trucks will go about anywhere you want to take them. They always ran good, got real good gas mileage. You could also fit them into more places than you can a fullsize truck. Only downfall I ever had with mine were transmissions.......grenaded trannies in both I owned and they are the easiest to find to replace either. Both I had were sticks by the way. The "older" chevy and gmc early 80's have served me well too. Not the friendliest on gas, but for taking a day in and day out beating, they hold up well. And repairing one wont yank on your pocket book near as bad as a newer truck. Drive a 94 GMC these days.....ok mileage, not too bad on repair costs. Been a all around good truck.
