I volunteered to guide at the Grand American. 10,000 acres and an ass of coons. So, if I was going to guide I was going to hunt. turns out another guide stepped forward and instaed of us going 65 miles to hunt , he had a good place on my county side of the orangeburg side of the Edisto River. This felller decided he had a young dog to sell and He decided on his own that I was the one that wanted him, LOL So the hunt proceeds and the dogs tree on the bank of the Edisto. It could have been waiste deep but it was a vertcle 15 ft drop to the water which it was because it was dry . He backed himself looking for the coon so hard till he backstepped off the bluff , but we were there and charged down the hill and saved him. We get back to the fairgrounds And he still wants to show me what his dog can do. I said man it is already 1;30 AM and it will take an hour and ahalf just to get to my place ; to which he informed me, that the guide where we just had hunted had left the gate open.
well fellows, there aint a GD F,n Way I would go in there if i had even had a dog left in there without calling the original guide. That was also in the 80s
I don't see where things have changed much though.
