I dont care if they GREET ya but they better be either on their way to the handler or on their way back to that tree. 20 feet off the tree east or west with their nose on the ground and they aint treed....there minused. I figure this is a situation where a little common sence goes a long way and my standard would be if i was huntin that dog alone and walked into him would i have to waste time figuring out which tree he was on? If that dog isnt doing something to show treed he deserves minus points.

You can want yours glued all you want to but you cannot minus mine La te da te da!! if he sits back or even meets me off the tree and goes back to "treeing satisfactorily" I think is the way it is worded. Once again, I am working on a line that is belly up , one leg wrapped and points like a pointer with the other foot. Extremely stylish!!!. I like it and everydody else had better getting to liking it too and breeding for it. Once I get that style I am going to minus every regular old two legged belly rubber in sight. LOL

Yes , there is a thread on the next page "How many people Listen?" Talking about the MOH reading the main rules prior to the hunt. Maye this one should be added LOL if anybody listens anyway. Sounds like some are going to do it the way they WANT to do it anyway.

This really has nothing to do with and is NOT about what kind of treedog you like, dislike or prefer. It is a rule question. Either you are willing to judge it the way UKC wants it judged or you are not. Simple as that.

Simply put. It can meet you a little off the tree and/or go right back. Milling around the tree with nose to the ground isn't treed.

And we all know the difference. I think anyhow. Most of us anyhow

The rules read different in PKC than in UKC on this one the bluebook in PKC says that a dog that is seen not showing tree should be minused and the back of the UKC card says that a dog can meet his handler a short distance provided he goes back and shows tree satisfactorily. Some will minus em on a UKC hunt cause they have been hunting in PKC and are used to minusing them when they are seen not showing tree not realizing that UKC specificaly states on the back of the card that they shouldn't be minused as long as they go back and show tree.

By George ! I think you hit it on the head! I know that is what happened in my case probably ten years ago. PKC must also have language "head down and going back on track". Where did that get discombobulated into UKC?

See here's the thing John, no body cares what you think or what I think about how a dog greets, holds its head on the ground or any other peculiar tree style. The rule is there for us to go by. Follow the rule the way its written or stay the heck out of the hunts. These guys that read and know the rule and still continue to ignore it deserve to be written up and suspended or barred. Maybe if a few were done this way people would start following rules like this one.

Its amazing to me that guys are more then willing to minus a dog for something the rules state are okay. Now who is the cheat and crook?

Despite what some think. The hunts are not full of cheats and crooks. They are full of folks with different opinions. You can just judge it however you see it. If you don't like a call. Question it. If 3 see it your way. You win If not. Your probably blind to what your hound is actually doing. A lot of this blindness happens!!

How many times have you been on a cast where everybody says"judge mine may meet you off tree" just in case there dog is off wandering around. I'm sure this situation is abused just as much where the dog that is not really treed gets scored on the tree vs the mean old judge that didn't judge it right and minused my dog. Best thing i can tell you is carry the card and judge it the way you see fit.

I just don't see how anybody can say a dog that has his nose on the ground working around can be considered treed/coming to greet you.

Lol well its pretty easy dean. A little common sense goes along ways doesnt it? If a dog is treed and clearly heard treeing there the whole time and all the sudden as the cast approaches the tree the dog is off the tree with its head down and proceeds right back to the tree was it trailing? I think we all know the answer, hey if you feel obligated to screw someone over it more power to you. What goes around comes around.

I've seen several people that have tunnel blindness/selective hearing at the hunts !

Carl, you are mistaken about a few things .
Every cast must have a judge. If a cast member is given the card, that cast member is the judge of that cast.
And not only can the judge alone minus a dog for leaving a tree, but in fact, the judge is REQUIRED to make that call if he observes or hears a dog off the tree. And it is not a voting situation until and unless someone questions the judges decision. Then it would take a majority to overrule the judge.
