I would think that this would fall under "all other situations", and they would be acountable for their strike.

Maybe they added this all other situations to the rule. Id like to find that old thread.

GA Dawg , that rule was revised a couple years back to make a dog accountable for strike points unless he showed up on a shut out tree. That was a loophole that got closed and you're right , there were several threads about it a couple years back.

It hardly ever happens that a tie breaker for placement in a hunt or a cast win but in the 2012 U.K.C. World Championship the dog that placed 5th was beat out of the final cast by circle strike points. It rarely happens but it does happen that is why we need to always score dogs correctly.
