Guys I aint saying I aint never treed one like this but most of the time it dont go as planned. Maybe it's because I did'nt wait 10-15 minutes later because when I was younger I would lock the brakes up and open the box. I dont know but if you asked this same ? around here you would get the same answer from anybody(if there honest).

Thats not all that uncommon around here, especially during the rut and when the coons get alot of hunting pressure. We run them a mile a good bit.

thank you he is doing a nice job for me , he wants to please me and i think that has a lot to do with how a young dog operates.

We must live in the same part of the world. The closest one was two hundred yards and I was not happy. The dogs took the backtrack and I was cussing. They treed and it was open woods, I could see the cooneyes from the truck. He must have scooted back across the road when I was getting the dogs out. I learned to never let them off the leash untill they smell it even if it takes a few minutes. That's when you and them look like fools if somebody is with you. Heck, I like those hot two mile races. I see them fairly often but it's usually where I don't have permission.

I know when we do it we don't just drop the gate let the dogs jump out on there own a go looking. I will walk them over to were the coon crossed at and put them on the track. Now that's with young dogs that are not finished out yet. Maybe that's why it usally ends well for me on one crossing the road. In my mind that is just like cutting a cage coon loose to em.

Even better. That coon knows where he is going.

I have done that. I'll only drop puppies on it though. To easy for the older dogs. I always make sure the dogs smell where the coon went before I just drop them in the middle of the road though. haha. Usually goes well for me.
