I have found sometimes it is easier to sneak in there and get your dog, and get out of there. I have tried to be the nice guy and do the right and ask, but alot of times that leads to bigger problems. trust me, I really do hate when the dog does get onto other peoples land, and you cant control that. I just try to make sure I hunt my dog in spots where I know all the people to avoid issues. But people tryin to trap your dog is just crazy.

If I see signs like No Trespassing.. I STAY OUT but if no signs its alittle different.. But I learned a VERY valueable lesson about two years or so ago.. I thought I would do the right thing and go up to a house and ask permission... This old man about in his 60-70's came out on the porch with a saw off shotgun pointed down at my feet and told me.. Does it look like No trespass on the trees, Well no I said shaking... Well then I dont want to see ya on my porch again.. Go F***ing hunting and dont bother me.. I looked at him confused.. So can I hunt? the old man nudged the gun against my leg and said.. If I didnt want ya on my f***ing land I would put signs up.. So I took it I could hunt on his land.. Never have had a problem.. sometimes I can see him on the back porch smoking I think he is listening to the hounds.. well my uncle saw him in a store and said well my niece loves hunting on your land .. that old man laughed and said well I enjoy hearing the hounds... and that was it.......

One other time, this when I was hunting with friends out in Ohio, years ago before i owned a dog... My friend's dog ended up treeing in someone's backyard.. so he did the polite thing by walking up to the porch and banging on the door. It was 1:30 am thinking well the dog is waking them up anyway.. well when he got to the door.. not so friendly woman answered the door with a pistol and told him to get the Fu'in out. My friend tried to explain about his dog. The lady said look around does it look like I have No Trespass signs up You Dumb F***, so you dont need my permission...

like I said earlier, this place is getting cold and scary to live in... you got people that have land that dont post that want to come out and confront you.. but heck I am a woman.. if some guy comes out of the blue and says you are on my land and if you dont get off I going to beat the he!! out of you... well I guess I might have to start arming myself when I go to the woods... Dang!!!

I can read it on my tombstone now:

Shot while coonhunting, Dang dog should of been taught how to read well she would still be with us today...

or

Shot by a crazy person cuz they did not post their property, if that crazy person should of used common sense she would still be here with us.

or read in the paper

Battered and left for dead, a woman was coonhunting and her dogs went over the line of this man's land.. Man, came out and threatened her and beat and battered her up to the point she could not even defend herself. The man reportly just walked and away leaving the woman defendless and shot her dog.

Come on people what the heck.................................is the world coming to............ I know
BITTER, COLD and SCARY

with the man who started this post just cause you take some one to a spot dont give them permission to go back i spend alot of gas money huntin down owners of property to get permission i also trap farmers barns and lots for free just to hunt their land so yes when i pull up and see your truck you mightve drove there but you wont be drivin your truck home i promise tires are **** expensive these days i also trap but to never intentionaaly to hurt a dog but you also have to set traps to protect your traps cause people want to stael them to this country boy will protect whats his and what i have permission to but ill get you or your fancy truck the dog has nothing to do with it he/she dont know boundries

Wow...I thought since they took running deer with dogs away from us for this very reason plus a few I guess, that we would learn our lesson and get along like big boys and girls...
I don't agree with a trespasser, but there are better ways of handling things...your problem lies with the man...my suggestion, leave his dogs out of it...man up and meet him at his truck when he returns from your woods with or without a landowner or police/dnr.

I agree with getting your dog...I'm getting mine when he trees even if its in the presidents back yard....I also own a garmin and can go out like I went in and not destroy anyone's property or hunting...my truck will never be parked on posted ground and my dog will never be cut into it...but my feet may travel it from time to time!
