You can carry your Garmin with you but if you carry it, it must be powered off. You can leave it powered on at the truck if your spectators isn't at the truck. If your spectators stays at he truck, they can not have a Garmin powered on.
That is the rule as laid out in the Advisor by Allen. You can follow it or ignore, that's up to you.

HERE YOU GO DUSTIN READ THIS.HERE IS WHAT YOU FORGOT TO READ... AND I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING ABOUT SOMEONE THAT DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE IT CAN LET IT ON.... DID YOU ???

The other part is the actual advisor. Copied word for word. The first was just him telling what he thought.

SlowMotion, you are free to take any risk you want but doing it your way WILL get you barred if UKC finds out. They are not gonna be trying to find out if you had your Garmin on "pause tracking" or what, very simply if it is powered on while the clock is running, you are committing a barrable offense and that cast vote won't do anything except get EVERYONE jammed up. Don't take my word for it. Call UKC and check on it yourself.

Even if was ok to leave the Garman on I would never tree my dog just because my garman said it was treed. I would go out the back door before the hunt was done. just saying.

If the spectator is in the truck, they are not a spectator (they are "spectating" - which mean watching). They are not part of that cast so using the Garmin should not matter.

However, if they were to text the hunter and the hunter uses the phone to communicate, he is in violation of that rule. So, there should be no problem or concern with someone in the truck with Garmin as long as they have no communication with the cast.

No such rule. UKC has never had any rule that says a spectator must walk, there is no such thing as a cast vote on the issue and UKC considers them to be spectators whether they are walking or sitting at he truck. Where do you guys come up with this stuff?

One sets in the truck and looks at the garmin and text the hunter in the woods, gives an advantage.

it happens a lot !

seen it a couple times done around here ,so yes it is happening more then you think ...i was a rider /handler and i was in judges truck ,judge had a spector that had is on the whole time ,once we moved cause the dogs when over the mountian his garmin beep ed [tree beep ] the cast stops he says tree my dog i said yea the garmin beep treed so he split the tree points ,what would have been the outcome if i didn't see it .............
i seen it one time we were in view of truck a dog pulls up treed in the corner of a feild on a small slick [no leafs ] there was a spector in the truck with a garmin +and a trachbreacker that dog left the tree screamin' a was picked-up a mile and half up the road leav'in dodge like he was on fire that was a judge and his spector too .
so from now on i know if i see it i put a question on the card, thanks guys i didn't see that rule !!!
