Chuck, 266 hunted Friday and 239 hunted Saturday night at an event that took 1750 to win. That takes it out of the realm of being a skill event and turns it into nothing more than an all out crapshoot. If you feel lucky, take your best shot.
I have never been able to understand the attraction of these types of events but 500 and some coonhunters were attracted to it so there is something there that brings them in. Maybe it's just the camaraderie, the kind of thing that brings so many to the Kentucky Derby, they sure ain't all there for the horse race. Whatever it is, when it comes to a serious competition, it's gonna have to be a cast by cast elimination event for me or I'll pass. I'm just not much of a gambler.
These events are great for our sport simply because of the numbers they generate. As for the scores, who cares. Most of us weren't even there and the ones that were knew what they were involved in.
