(Also the Bible has some things to say in Romans about God not being pleased when people worship the creation rather than the Creator. So I do think that environmentalists, when they are this extreme, can be associated with being anti-Christian.)
QUOTE FROM ABOVE POST
THAT is where there is room for a whole lot of arguement (to me). Nature sure as heck is a LOT more fascinating, intense, unbelievable, awe inspiring - and true - than ANY words written by an obscure, middle Eastern tribe. Sorry, but GOD is simply too unknowable and amazing to be quoted third person by humans.
I think it is not applicable to equate "anti-Christian" with "extreme" beliefs. That is pretty intolerant and sorta reminds me of how fundamentalist muslims feel about us!
I agree that the comment about these people drawing attention to themselves instead of the destruction of old growth is right on... just as PETA higher-ups use shock instead of reason to try and force their belief system on all. Bottom line: while I live in an area which has lost almost all its granduer (sp?) due to greedy logging practices over the past 50 years, and do what I can to support the preservation of the very, very few acres remaining, I can't support these idiots who are in reality all about themselves and their feelings. If they would get a job and buy some land and preserve it, well, then I would take them seriously. (shrugs)
Anyway, I'm afraid this thread is going to turn into one on religion, so in the name of world peace I will bow out! : )
