tonight we made 4 trees, 2 were big trees leaning across the woods touching other trees, 1 was a big oak and 1 was in some thick stuff that she really couldnt settle on a tree. i didnt see a coon but after telling her dead coon go find another she went on. she only went back to 1 tree tonight and didnt leave until i was ready. tomorrow night we will go to new land. and for the guy that said 10 yds from the tree she might have been confused or whatever. thats where i caught her. she kept going to the tree. but i think she is getting the right idea. a little praise goes a long way with this girl. thanks for all the advice guys

Possitive reinforcement and repetition is what good training is all about. If she starts going back to trees or back to the truck again on you just give her a switch or a smack on the backside (dont wear her out. Lol) and send her back in the woods. Keep doing it untill she goes or until your patience wears out. Lol. If she won't go I'd just take her home and do it all over again the next night. Loading her up and just taking here to another spot could be a quick fix, but that wont help fix the problem of going back to trees when you turn loose again in the same woods.

I must be really sick. I talk to my dogs like I'm Bi-polar. They have no problem knowing if I'm happy or mad. Lol.

were we are we have some good woods most the time we never tie dogs up. just shoot the coon they get it tell them dead start pulling hide and send them out again most the time before the hide is off they have the next one. had same problem with them not going after first tree the first coon i pilled on the tree with them off lead seemed to fix it. odd how dogs work.

oh some thing i forgot. found this out after first hide season. three words my dogs must get to know durning hide season mine, (they don't get the coon at all) miss (no coon in tree) dead (shoot it they got it). teaching them this has made summer running a lot funner. by end of season i say mine the never come back to same tree. dead they drop it and go for more, miss has dropped the number of slicks by a ton. one slick ever three days and 30 coon is bad numbers for my dogs.
