Everyone has they're own experiences and experiences with different individual dogs.

They aren't perfect, but of all the things you could say about Clover dogs, in my experience of nearly years of hunting Wild Casey dogs from 1991-1997 & 2003-current, trashy isn't one of them.

I've dabbled and tried different breeds and lines of Walkers, and kept going back to Wild Casey dogs because of the high percentage of them that are either naturally straight or easily broke. Trashy compared to what I guess.

I have a NtCh named Boom, out of another one of Joe's dogs, who's name was Joker. Joker didn't have a lot of pups on the ground but had enough winners that his percentage got him very close to making the Current Top Reproducer's list.

Boom isn't perfect by any means, but is all coon dog. In fact he's done most of his winning, with snow on the ground or in pouring down rain storms. I line-bred (on Clover) him to a female I had out of another one of Joe's dogs, Stylish Thorn and that litter produced 9 pups, of which at least 6 that I know of were treeing their own coon by 8 months and some consistently split treeing.

From what I've seen and what I own, the Clover line produces dogs that are naturally independent that have a desire to go coon hunting on the first night. I have yet to see one, that I would call real flashy, but they are pretty consistent.
And neither Boom (stylish Clover bred top and bottom) or any of the pups out of him that I owned, ever ran anything off.

I'd agree. There are some strong similarities but there are also some differences between the Wild Casey dogs I grew up hunting and some of the Whitey dogs I've hunted with in recent years.

Just a couple differences that stick out to me, #1 is mouth. Many Whitey dogs have a dying squall / bawl mouth when they come on a tree, especially the Joker dogs, but I've heard the same style of mouth on dogs off Chic's Wild Style. The Wild Casey dogs I've hunted with had a wide range of mouths. From as loud as anything out there to below average and everything in between. Although I prefer Casey dogs, I'd say Whitey put a better mouth on them but many of them are bawl mouthed tree dogs compared to Casey's seem to typically be chop mouthed tree dogs. There were plenty of extra loud Casey dogs, but it seems to be the norm for Whitey dogs to have a good mouth.

It might not be fair for me to say this about all Whitey dogs, but compared to the Casey dogs it seemed to be the Whitey dogs were a little more wound tight. Most the Casey dogs weren't going to Wow you how they went about treeing coons. They'd just get the job done, drop after drop and night after night regardless if it was 75 degrees or -10 degrees. Many of them treed with 4 feet on the ground a couple feet off the base of the tree at about 60-80 bpm on a tree. The Whitey dogs I've been around did everything they did like they were insane. Every time they'd tree it sounded like they were dying and they were usually bug eyed nuts climbing all over everything at the tree. The Whitey dogs seem to have a little more of that "Wow" factor, but the Casey dogs I hunted with were a little more consistent.

I like both Whitey and Wild Casey dogs, but to me they are not one in the same.
