ive had a couple go with me over the years and they make great pack mules. i always made sure they were wearing the game bag to. 5 or 6 good hides get pretty heavy. if i had to share my huntin time with my wife i would loose my mind though. i love her and shes a good wife but i need my time. good times

I took my wife one time. She didn't say much. Later I asked if she wanted to go again. She said she'd rather poke her eyes out.

the fact that a woman will go out of her comfort zone and do something we love so much tells us a lot. it means they like you and want to spend time together no matter what the activity is. but....if she asks to carry the gun you may also want a good buddy to go along with you!!

Gotta love it.

Mine went with me several times when we first married ( I even bought her a pair of wick frog legs). One night in a bunch of multiflora rose her light went out, I wanted to get to the tree (young dog, first tree) I rushed her a little too much, anyway she finally cried and said I'll never get out of here. That was it for her. Frog legs were still new. This was 18 years ago.
Now my 12 year old daughter is wearing those same frog legs out goes with me nearly every time I go. Its all good.
I can understand wanting to get away, some piece and quiet time away from the wife for sure.
L.lyle "Got ahold of the ankles and whacked its head on a tree" yep that i'll do it for sure. Thats funny.

mine will not go with me, she hates hunting in general and doesnt like the fact that the dogs live outside. she adoesnt give me a hard time about it and lets me do what i love to do and rarely says a word about it (unless i am blowing her off to hunt, then i hear about it.)

she also does things i dont like and wouldnt want to do like go running every day and going shopping and well she doesnt drag me along to do either. she has her time doing those things and i have my time hunting. it has worked out quite well so far.

You sound like me , trying to be a current day man and give her her space and come to negotiating and compromising and all that kind of stuff. My experience says put a GPS collar under her car axle when you go hunting so you can keep track of her. Give her an inch and she will take a mile . There are no limits on some of them, they refuse to observe limits. You probably got problems coming down the road. JMO. Don't mean to sound negative, just truthfull.

sorry but im not crazy, no need to strap a garmin to her car axle haha... from my experiance if shes gonna run off and be a whore shes gonna do it no matter what. doesnt matter if im out hunting, at work or wherever. i dont think this one will do anything like that ive known her to long and know she cant lie to save her life. and if shes gonna do it ill know... ya cant fool a trapper, (especially when most women these days are no where near as smart as a fox) but if she does run off it is what it is ill just have me a few more good walker hounds in the yard!

Cute thread!
My first date with my hubby was coonhunting (9.5 years ago and 4 years married)! He still loves to tell people that, because I took him. He had gone as a kid a few times while I was raised with it, so when he found out I had dogs he was pretty excited to get back into it. Good times!
