With all due respect for the other opinions Tim Ball can't make a common reproducer great with colorful ads. Ball has offered other dogs for stud with the same ads that were hardly ever bred too and were gone within a couple years. While good ads may get a few females bred early on it won't make their reproducing percentages great or keep them at stud for ten years.

Some think the Harry x Abby cross made Harry but I can assure you very little of his pups 750,000+ won in PKC was won by that cross.

Both were well promoted as well as some other males from the cross but Harry out reproduced them all. Oh and Rebel did throw prettier colored pups and he did put a good mouth on them. Rebel did have one good cross out of one of the Abbott females but other than that his good pups were pretty rare.
That Rebel cross you are talking about If I remember right My Rat Attack hound came out of A Dual Gr. Female out of that Abbott cross and he was all coondog.

I never owned any off of Rebel and have only hunted with one off of Rebel. I have owned several out of Stylish Harry and have started plenty of pups from Harry. I currently have an 8 yr old and two 2 year old females off of Harry. I like the Harry dogs but they are not for everyone. I have often wondered about the reproducing ability of both dogs. Going on numbers, it's Harry hands down. I have took the Harry x Abby cross out of the equation and it does not effect the numbers very much. My opinion is that they have both thrown nice dogs, but Harry was the best reproducer. Numbers don't lie. If you are a dominate reproducer, the numbers will be there.

I wonder if anyone every bred the same female to both Harry and Rebel. I know Harry was bred to a sister to Abott's Jodie dog. Jodie was bred to Rebel. Both crossed worked but it seems as if the Rebel x Jodie cross may have been the better of the two. That's only my opinion as I have never hunted with any of them.

i have hunted with both rebel pups and harry pups. both throw nice hounds when they were crossed on the right female. Just as with any cross. I personally like the rebel dogs better. to me they are built the way a hound is supposed to be built. good track and tree dogs. laid back around the house but mud slingers when you cut them. harry pups are good but have a terrible handle on them.

I have a Dual Grand Harry x Abby female at my house that has been bred to Rebel. With this cross you get up close Harry and Rebel.

A question about the price difference in both pups.Ive personally never hunted with a pup direct out of Rebel but Ive hunted plenty out of Harry and their daddy.SOME people are pricing the Rebel pups just as high as the Harry pups. How can you expect to get the same price out of Rebel when he is not a a proven reproducer? In saying that I am going with a Rebel pup only because of hearsay about the Rebel dogs being more Kennel quiet and more brains, more or less a better handle on them and also Color,PRICE and I liked Hayes.

Harry and Rebel ?

A question for Mr. Brown....after all of these years have passed,Harry has passed as well, who in order of your likeing are the most influential sires of our time? And any thoughts you might share with us on Stylish Harry?I would like your opinion of the impact that Harry has given the walker breed.

I like Harry been hunting Harry dogs for a while. Been around 3 different Rebel pups and I won't own one. I like Harry crossed on Rat or Trackman females. He puts the hunt in them. Rebel pups did not seem to have enough hunt in them and they seemed nervous all the time.
But I have seen those crazy Harry dogs too but I have never owned one.
