HOBO i'm not here to argue. Where i hunt there must be some 5-8 folks that have got the updates off the computor etc.. on a regular basis. Each one of them has experienced prorblems on a regular basis. It may be coincidence, i don't know. Mine is just as it was when handed to me by Redgy at Autumn Oaks two years ago. Only thing i have ever had a problem with is the antenas that that came on them, with have been changed out to the tuff skin type, and i had to send one collar back to garmin because of charging connection being bad on the collar itself. Never once hooked up to anything for an update, and not one problem. Now i'm not a rocket scientist, but i can see the pattern. Until this little baby just goes completelty out, i'll shoot the first person who tries to update it.

Not arguing with you about the updates.. I just know what I've seen with my own eyes.....

To each their own I guess.

Have to mail unit in to garmin and they are sending another back to me. I reckon you can't complain about that.

Updates are indeed designed to fix glitches as well as make things more intuitive from time to time but with any thing where you are transferring data, files can become corrupt in the process.
I think it was Jim who stated on here somewhere in the last few days that he updated a collar and now it is boogered up. Maybe I dreamed that.
I said on this forum a couple of months back that as long as my unit is working good there will be no more updates for me.
Direct TV updates the software on their HD receivers all the time over the air. Every time they do it enhances one thing but screws something else up. The last time they did an update it totally screwed my guide data up so updates are not always the best thing since sliced bread. I am sure Garmin is no exception.

Here it is :

They are all updated to3.8.

And Jim said:

I updated a collar yesterday and it did the same thing. Unhooked the battery so it would reboot and that didn't help. Tried to do the upgrade again but you have to have the collar hooked up to the hand held to that.

You wouldn't believe how many updates we went through as field testers in the 320 as we know it now. There would be a glitch that would lock up the Astro and we would have to take out the batteries and turn it back on. We would report the problem to Garmin and in a few days we would get an email with an attachment update. We would download it and it would fix the original problem and then something else would be messed up. It was fun, but frustrating at the same time.
