I've watched dogs working a bad track stop, look around like they are thinking where the coon went, move over aways, and pick up the track and go on.

Yes, I beleive they can think. But I don't beleive that they have deep thoughts nor much reasoning power.

if we evolved from monkeys why are there still monkeys? I would like to know this because my biology teacher in highschool and college never could answer this question for me?

Yes I think dogs can think.
Example, a good friend of mine had a dog named Joe.
He hunted the hair off Joe,the dog had a heart big as all out doors. Many nights I would drive to my friends house, about a 40 minute drive and we would pleasure hunt.At the end of our hunt, usually real late, I would load my dog back in my truck, my friend would get Joe out and send him hunting from his drive way.He would say" go find 1 man" and Joe would trot off.Now my friend lived in the country, and the nearest woods was a long ways off.Joe would go and find a coon, somewhere! We would sit on my tailgate and talk,I would leave and my friend would sometimes go in the house.Later he would get his tracker out and go find Joe.He would be treed somewhere! Many times I have drove down that country road and seen eyes off the side of the road, so I would slow down, and there would be Joe, backed off in the grass, or ditch and watch me drive by.He was road smart!
Kokomo Joe was a heck of a dog!!!!!

Do you realy think a dog is wired the same as a human. then if he is and wants to please you why do they take a dump on the living room carpet that don't make you happy.
Is being smart the same as being able to THINK.
My buddy says the same thing about quitting and thinking but that don't mean i believe it .
Don't bash me I am just wondering about THINKING it's too hot to hunt might as well see what people "THINK"

just because they do stupid stuff just could mean they were not thinking clearly i see drug addicts and kids smoking all the time... they can think just didnt do it very well

Why does he take a dump on the floor. Hell I know a few people that have done that before. Why do they go in caves that they cant get out of. People do it everyday. Why do they run a deer when they know they are not supposed to. Why do people go out and rob and steal when they know they are not supposed to........Can they not think!!!!!

this has had me thinking for years. dogs dreaming. you just wonder. so if they have the capacity for dreams their capacity for thinking has to be higher than anyone thinks.
i believe that a dog will do whatever sometimes when they want a reaction from a human, whether it be a good thing or bad. i believe it is in the way the human raises the dog up and has it excel to the highest level possibly achieved in the short life span a dog has.

you got that right. what if people started breeding more for intelligence than anything else. would it be a hunting machine??? i think so. it would up the anty i think.

a dog that can hunt and think independantly is worth its weight in gold in my book.
and that is what i got. he is very , very intelligent.
he has never shown the capacity for being a me too dog ever.

My dog "thinks" up ways to p+ss me off. He knows that he is not supposed to do something but he does it anyway. He will tree a possum but he will leave right before I get there. I know that he is "thinking" and laughing at me as he sneaks off!
