Then remove the bitch, not the pups. They're still learning bite inhibition, etc. from their littermates.

If we all are so dumb why even bother to ask our advice?I guess if you heard what you wanted we would be smart? Right??

I would pay 500 for a pup before I would pay 50 if that 50 breeder did not care for those pups properly like worming ,shots, proper prenatal care, etc. In the long run sometimes it makes a difference.I want the difference it may make in my favor.

Another thing if you can't afford more than 50 for a pup how are you going to buy feed, vet care, proper housing, etc so he grows into a healthy hound and can do his best for you?

calm down, i bought my skeet for a measley 150.00. that is the best investment i have ever made. quality dog, good hunter, good line and healthy. and he wasnt wobbling still learning how to walk.
if this "breeder" is toting these , well maybe 3 week old pups from show to show and you are going to get a 4 week old pup. i would def. reconsider your choice.

you wanted opinions, you got them.

i would never take one if they gave it to me for free. nope.

Just be careful. I thought I read that you were going to pick the pup up at AO.

No vacs ~ that is a dangerous thing to expose that pup to an event without shots. Mine don't leave until they are old enuff to have started vac.

You have to do what you have to do. Just becAreful. You could loose the pup all together.

Good luck. Hope things go well.

if these pups are going to be exposed to several big hunts at this age before the vacinations take effect they will all probably be dead with parvo or some other disease by the time they are 10 weeks old.
200 to 500 seems to be the going rate for a pup with good bloodlines. (500 would be a little steep for me also)
there have been several people that have given elliots buddy sound advice and trying to help.
from reading these post this guy has been making he is one of three things. A child that is trying to learn but does not have much patience, a person that is not very smart and has already made up his mind, or somebody that is wanting to start some crap by making these post.

i agree, and if he wants a pup, the parents are reg. ukc, not pr, a redbone and bluetick got together. i can get one for free and transport half the way for nothing. they are giving them away. and if he really wanted to up the anty, they have a litter of glascons and bluetick. always try to help everyone out.
and that is the end of the story. i will get a pup for him, not the fancy dancy lines for next to nothin, but nonethe less, they have reg. lines.
either you want a coonhound or not. i did and didnt know but a few things about it, and i got one. didnt research lines or anything, just trusted, BUT, I TRUSTED THE RIGHT PEOPLE.
by the way, a single reg. dog could still win the world, and then you can brag about the gas money to get him.

reds and english lookin.
the glascon cross is huge and blue.
they hunt everything they have, they are just irresponsible about dogs breaking chains. that is why they are free.
they hunt yotes and coons.
option is yours, do you want the paper, or a pup. they might be stylish one day, maybe not. you know how pups turn out.

In my opinion its WAY to early to be sold. Most states have laws as to how old a pup has to be before it can be sold. As does UKC. Other than the Mom dieing or as Christy stated the Mom snapping at them and hurting they should never be sold that young.

Just soak Puppy Chow for it. It should do fine.

If the pups are being taken to the bigger events to be sold, and the mom is staying at the breeders home then maybe your pup can stay with the mom until it is properly weaned. Not trying to say anything bad about anyone, but it really is in the best interest to wait a little longer,4 weeks is just too young.Just my opinion.

Guess i will be the one going against the grain here. Having been a dogman for 50 years i want my pup as young as the breeder will let go of it. Dog socialization at a young age might be important in a dog that has to function as part of a pack later in life, But most dogs weather used for coon, pet, or personal protection will be more trainer responsive having been raised away from other dogs. You want to be as much as possible that dogs whole life, (HIS GOD).

I have raised lots of pups from 4 weeks with no problems, they bond much quicker and are way more responsive to your wishes
later in life when they think of you as moma.

My starter recipe. Puppy chow in the blender mixed with dry baby cereal, soaked in warm milk, 3 times a day.

I will ad that it is important to keep pups at that age away from areas where they can be exposed to disease. I would never bring home a pup even at 8 weeks from an event like A.O.

Pups that are weaned before 6 weeks do not have the antibodies in their system to fight off the germs and viruses that are out there.

Just be careful. Your playing with fire.
