Straightdrive

Give me the week of muzzleloader and the first week of gun season and I will rent it to you on a daily basis with a guaranteed shot or no pay. Plus we can drive to the orchard to recover with a minum of dragging.

That Sierra boatail is about a accurate round as you will find especially in factory ammo like Federal Custom ammo, myself i hunt mostly in the timber and most my shots are gonna be a 100 yds and under so i shoot Federal with the Nosler Partition, not too many bullets any deadlier than it, it is also used on Dangerous Big Game ! The Ballistic tip from what i have seen want penetrate like the Partition bullet !!!

like i said this is going to be a back up rifle. my every day deer gun is a browning BAR 30.06 and i have shot since 2001. also shoot a 180gr. winchester power point out of her. in my entire life i have only losr 1 deer due to a bad shot and it was a headshot. tracked that huzzy over a mile and lost blood. i strive to make good shots and i aslo hate to waste meat. if you use a quality rifle, quality scope, and quality ammo you will usually have little problems with finding deer.

A lot of people would be surprised at the shock from a light cartridge that doesn't pass through.
I have a hearing problem so my stand is 80 yards above my house up on the ridge. I shoot across a hollow to the next ridge to my apple orchard which is 135 to 200 yards. Thats the reason I like a light fast round.
One man, a no shooting son of a gun, who hunts a farm between my property and the river couldn't get a clean kill with a 243 so he went to a 270, then a 30.06 and now a 300 mag. Talk about a waste of meat. I can understand how you hunt close and thick and want something heavy, but it disgust me to see someone that can't shoot compensate by shooting a cannon.

yeah, he thought if he got a bigger caliber, he might be able to hit something. wrong. i would like to teach those kind of guys a thing or two about shooting. i can say, i am a hell of a shot with whatever i use. i always told my husband, i have a caliber for whatever yardage you want to run.lol.

that boat tail is deadly accurate, that's why i love it and use it whenever possible. very , very consistent. nice explosive quality wherever you hit, etc. the finest. combine it with IMR 4350 you got a load.

i didnt mean to get you panties in a bunch. slow down. the 25.06 is a fast shootin, dont hit a twig kind of gun. it is a good gun though. i have always figured either you are a 270-280 kind of person or an .06 kind of person. kind of like walkers vs. whatever.
i am a typical woman, dont like a whole heck of alot of bang, with no buck. i shoot a 280.
to each their own, take no offense to any of what i say, i just have my preferences. to each their own.
i just will help ya if you ever need a good load for either gun.

i cant count the amount of deer i have shot. too old to keep track, to young to care.

That thing Just made your whole body hurt ...

I really like the Big Bores and have shot quite a few .. all the way up to a 500 nitro Express which is another one you only want to shoot once .. Makes ya kinda of Jumpy for a few days afterwords ..

I like the 350 rem mag for a 150-250 yard gun .

My Brother and his Wife went to South Africa for a Big Game and Antelope hunt and all they used the whole time was a 270 and they killed 21 head of game ..

i am sorry, i read this and laughed so hard. yeah, she, both, kick like mules, but,,,,,,, my son knew if he wanted that deer and no pain, make the shot count. not real accurate after 100 yds. drops like a bowling ball. a few years later, he wanted to use my 300 mag. with my loads. i was a little leary and i warned him. but, being the loving mom that i am, i let him use it. he was hunting around about a 600 yard field they were pushing. i know he is a good shot, i trained him. but let me tell you, that is the last time he used "mom's" gun. his shoulder was so black and blue, lol. kind of reminded me of that. all i did was smile and say, i told you so.
some guns are made for men, and some for women, lol.
i like the big bore. no pain no gain.
dad raised me on 12 ga. slugs. , as they say now, i am down with it.
he got that buck that year, nice 7 pt. . i was right beside him all the way. and he has gotten alot more than that. he is spoiled. mom always gives up her stand for the boy. but, he is in texas this year. soooooo, cant wait for archery now.
after that, we are talkin business.

like i said, i love odd calibers. love them.
my daddy always said, never sell your guns , property or 4*4's. they always gain value.
he was and still is right.

i have seen good placed shots go bad with a bad shell or just plain, the wrong caliber for the situation. just saying. you have to give yourself the best chance. if it was that easy, just one denominator in the equation, they wouldnt have bonus tags in pa.

you want to shoot, learn it , live it. love it. do your homework. no more lossed deer.
