well when i find the whole in the ground i buy a birthday cake "step one eat the cake" lol i take the clear top that covers the cake and i put it over the hole and i put brick on it to hold it down i put it on at night when they are in the nest in the morning they come out they can see around but can fly away they just fly around the inside of the lid and they die off being clear they dont know why they cant go far and dont dig a new whole well thats my 2 cents

I have exterminated as many as seven yellow jacket nests a year while mowing. Wait till dark, get a 20 ounce drink bottle, fill the bottle to about 1/4 full of gas (doesn't take much), go to the hole and insert the bottle into the hole and leave it. No more bees. I have also used bean dust. Just get a cup full and cover the entrance to the hole and step on the dust to pack it into the hole. Do this at night also. I like the gas better, it works fast, don't bother your dogs, and the vapors are gone the next day. I leave the bottle in the hole to plug it up so I am sure the vapors go down into the nest instead of rising up.

sabrina, thanks for the light info..I was gonna take a flashlight! but I will have to use it a lil to see the hole.

nccoonhunter, glad to know how much. I was planning on about a gallon.

the storms are already moving in now and looking at the radar it will be another busy night.

well - it is done. dont know if it is finished yet!

took me a few minutes to calm down, I was a little nervous to say the least. worried about them shooting back out or either a 'back door' somewhere. I did use the flashlight and they didnt attack it so that was good. i had about 2-3 gallons in a can and probably used 1/2 of it!!! I wanted to be sure! I then took a clear bowl and tried to get it down over the hole and put a brick on it. with the heat tmw it should definitely get rid of them..as long as there are not survivors and crawl out from under the bowl. we'll see.

If you put that much gas in the hole, they are dead, really dead, really really dead. You could have probably killed all the bees in NC with that much gas. LOL

well...either it didnt work or I missed some or there is another nest somewhere. this morning I was washing out puppy pen and there was one on the bottom of pen. and there was also a baby snake slithering around too. if its not 1 thing its another!!!

Dish Soap

Maybe you should have used the DAWN dish washing liquid. Get you a good sized funnel and mix up a 5 gallon bucket and pour away. Also it is illegal to pour gasoline into the ground.

Cynthia, unless there were some outside of the hole, the amount of gas you put in there DID kill "those" bees... There's no if, ands or buts about it, they are dead! We only use about a pint jar size and it has never failed us...yet

It's very possible and most likely there could be another nest around close...We always deal with 2 to 5 ground bee nest each summer on into the fall. We even get those huge bumble bees in the ground. Hornets in the trees...

Now, the snake, you are on your own wit that one
