i do not consider myself a poucher, i hardly ever kill coon. i always have permission to hunt the places i turn loose. Lastnight i made a bad call, but to me it was worth it cause my young dog treed his 4th coon and got paid for it. No i never should have posted it and im not real sure why i did. I dont care who you are if you hunt 4-5 nights a week like i do and have never shot a coon out of season or been on land you wasnt aloud wheather by choice or not then i kinda feel sorry for you or your just a liar.

dont let go where you dont have persmission, if your dog ends up there, ask the land owner (if possible) otherwise call and ask for a sheriff to escort you to your dog, and for God Sake man DONT SHOOT THE COON TO YOUR DOG OUT OF SEASON ON LAND THAT YOU SHOULDNT BE ON!! but you could ask the sheriff if he wants to see if the dog has a coon, just to know for yourself if your dog had a coon

Learned something I didn't know. It appears to be common practice in coon producing states to shoot coon out of season. Hope it doesn't rain tonight I have alot of catching up to do.

You atleast have to go get that gun. There's always a possability of someone finding it before it washes away. If it turns out to be a couple of young kids that are out riding 4-wheeler or something, do you think you could live with yourself then?
You've admitted that you made a mistake. That's great, you learned something. I don't mean any disrespect to you or anyone else, but please don't make it worse by taking a chance like that.

ok coondawg if you dont care then why reply, im sure all your dogs are perfect and dont need coon, and you are a perfect guy that does everything right and i am happy for you. I didnt post this to brag or start crap, i posted it cause somtimes i do end up where not aloud and have always just went in and got them with no worries. But the cop lastnight made me think and i wanted to know the way to get by. I told the whole story cause that is what happend even though it made me look bad. I didnt think for a second that fellow coonhunters would gang up on a post when all they had to do was answer a question, i already knew what i did was wrong. Talk smack all you want guys cause im out.

You might want to look at this another way. Why did you have to pay your dog for treeing his 4th coon? Honestly, if you didn't give him the coon, and he never treed his 5th coon, then you are just wasting coon on a dog that would never make a good dog anyway. Another thing to think about is that if you have a young dog that needs every coon it trees (as you said paid), then you have a dog that is going to have to have a lot of coon shot out to it for his entire life. With less and less hunting spots being available, can you afford to hunt a dog in your spots that will require you to kill the coon in those spots.

Just a couple things to think about. Not trying to pass judgement on you or your dog. Good luck with him.

park where you have permission go get your dog and get out of there if confronted by landowner explain that you turned loose where you have permission to hunt the land owner has to go through alot of trouble to prosecute a sincere apology will work most times.I won't bash you for wanting your pup to get that coon I know exactly how you felt if I had a pup tree a coon in the game wardens back yard and I thought he deserved it I would give it to him.But trust me he won't quit treeing coons if you don't get that particular one out on him just tell him good job and that you will give him the next one they seem to understand

They're is a proper way of handling that here in GA. Try every way to contact the property owner and if its not possible just call the game warden and he'll go with you to get the dog. You have to use "common sense" and not turn it loose where your not supposed to be to start with and you sure don't go bragging about it on the internet like you've made some great accomplishment..

Yes I most certainly have had to get dogs off of posted property because some idiot turned us loose on a small track of land in a camp hunt. I done just exactly what I said above. I did NOT go onto the persons property without permission and once I got my dog I never went back. If you don't have enough land for the dogs to hunt I don't think you should hunt there. I do understand things happen every once in a while that you can't control

I cant believe somebody would make a post bragging about what they done either. Its hard to get permission to hunt off of every single landowner in the County lol, especially when most property owners land consist of 30-100 acre tracts.I have permission to hunt all of the land that I hunt and I dont cut loose on property that I dont have permission but dogs seems to do wonder off on land that I do not have permission to hunt from time to time.If its early enough I make every attempt to contact the land owner to get my hound. If its 2:30 in the morning Im not going to call Mrs.Crabtree to ask for permission to get my hound and in most places that I am at I have no Cell Phone service to call anybody.I know this is a sensitive subject to talk.I dont like wondering on someones property to get my hound without permission but I have dogs on that property that belong to me and I will fetch them as quickly as possible to avoid any harm that someone may want to afflict on them and get out.I dont like Trespassers either but I have met several coonhunters at the tree on my property to get their hounds.I would have been a hipprocrite if I would of threw a fit on them boys just wanting to get their dogs.So far they all have thanked for me for understanding,I told em it was Ok as long as they didnt kill my pets lol.

if people werent so foolish maybe ther wouldnt be as much posted land.maybe it would be easier to get permission.just like when we were in school it only takes one or two to screw the whole class.maybe theyll grow up one of these days and start acting responsible.

well i can understand dogs will go on to posted property that is ok go get them leave the gun . i don t think a man thinks alot of his dog to do that down here he might only get his collar back , if he is lucky the people that coonhunt down here spend alot of money to keep there coons and for a man to shoot one of them aint the smart thing to do , i know a man went and turned loose where he wont suppose to got ran off serval times so he would cut the dog then ride up the road and wait for him to tree land owner set snares where he kept cuttin his dogs lost one of them to the snare and was mad as hell cause the land owner set the snares and all he had to do was quit huntin on his land
