anteater

Hi, my name is Charles this is the pedigree on Roxanne and Princess, they are litter mates.

GRNT JET IV
GRNT MISSOURI BLUE ROCK
ROCK VALLEY BESS
NTCH MISSOURI BLUE ROCK II
GRNT CASEYS HAMMER III
NORRIS NORTHERN BLUE TRACY
DUAL GR CASEYS BLUE TWO
NTCH WYATTS MONITEAU CREEK BLUE ROXANNE
WYATTS MONITEAU CREEK BLUE PRINCESS
GRNT JET IV
GRNT MISSOURI BLUE ROCK
ROCK VALLEY BESS
WYATTS MONITEAU CREEK BLUE MANDY
GRNT NORTHERN BLUE CURLEY
NTCHCH WILLIAMS BLUE LACY
NORTHLAND BLUE ROSE

I have had this breeding since 1989. My brother use to own the original Rock dog. My brother bought him before he was a year old. The guy that owned him could not stand him treeing every 20 yards and not pulling to any other dog. My brother hunted him and got him over that and was a real pressure tree dog. I hunted him for somewhere around six months to a year and for me he never left a tree and 95% of the time seen a coon. I won a few hunts and then he was sold and JJ bought him later. My Rock II dog was born in 1990 and had two wins towards grand when a neighbors dog came down and killed him on the chain (Thanksgiving Day). He was a very tough hound, if he did not have first or second on the tree he was not going to be there. He was going to be split treed and have the coon most of the time. Like many other dogs, he was not perfect and in my opinion there is not a perfect dog out there. On certain nights he would pull up short or have a possum but not very often. In his younger years he would occassionally bump a fox but always end up treed on a coon. I had turned down several offers but never sold him. Some of the bigger hunts I had him in was a bluetick hunt that I placed fourth and the Missouri Govenors Hunt I placed seventh. I also went to Pinebluff Arkansas to the ACHA Little World Hunt when it was big. I did not win my cast but the first ten minutes of the hunt, he had first strike and first tree but he crossed the little missouri river in Arkansas. I could not cross or swim because the river was bank full. The judge scored the tree and called time, I had an hour to catch my dog. So guess what??? I did not get my dog caught and he treed the whole time when they finished the cast. I rode down there with someone else so I could not find a way around. Enough on Rock II.

I still have Mandy and I did not put any degrees on her because I was always hunting something else. I kept her because she produced nice dogs. I hope to get a dog out of Rebel because he is the same pedigree as Roxanne and Princess. Roxanne and Princess are 5 years old and I am sure that Rebel is out of a litter a year older.

Roxanne has six pups, 2 males, 4 females. Princess has three pups, 1 male, 2 females. I am not sure what is sold out of those litters yet.

Anteater-

If you are courious I did not breed Rock II very much because I don't think people liked his looks much. He had some brown on his head as so does Roxanne. A lot of people liked him but not many breed to him, only I breed my own females. I watch what I breed to. Another good dog to breed to is, GRNT Bakers Perche Creek Bo.

Chris - I am sorry about your loss.

I wouldn't mind to give them their last meal and see how well they take some suffering at the hands of someone a little bigger than they.

Tilly

For those of you that did not know Tilly, she was a very nice hound that loved to split tree and have the meat. No matter what the other dogs were doing she would hold pressure. It is a great loss to the Bluetick Breed. I have trained a lot of pups, hunted a lot of dogs and that is one hound that I would have fed.

Yes, I still have Mandy. I bought her from Harry Tipton when she was 6 months old. The next time she comes in I hope to breed her to Harry Tipton's Duke dog (Frozen semen). If not him, either Bo or Lightning.

I bet the mandy female and the ray dog would make some nice pups too ......i would be breeding to all the good male dogs in the rock line one after the other......i know the ligtning dog is closer ...that would be nice ..also, tell me about Duke i dont know much about him (must be good for frozen stuff)...i think many people would be interesrted in a proven purina winner sire like ray....mandy is gold man....breed her and get some more of rock out there...lol

Duke is directly out of Jet IV. I do not know anything else as he has been deceased for a while, but everybody I have talked to said he was very tough and they would have liked to seen Duke and Rock hunt against each other. They also said that they would have not known who would have won. If I find out more about Duke, I will let you know or JW might know.

Duke wae Jet IV X (Wilmoth,s Hornblower X Jet II female)

Duke vs. Rock - toss up. Duke was tight on track, so Rock would have had first strike. They would have been split treed and both were accurate. So it would come down to whose coons would look. Both were tough coondogs. Rock was bred a little more and produced better numbers.

wow...duke must have been good too...and he was double jet bred with the OLD JET BLOOD---nice....Wonder why Duke didnt reproduce as well....not being smarta$$ ...I just really wonder....I bet it would have been a hunt worth seeing ....with Rock and Duke on a cast....did they ever hunt together...

I have learned and relearned a lot about the Rock line boys ....thank for all your info....I am definately gonna keep this on file....like many other viewers of this thread, It is gonna really help when it comes time to buy and breed .....I got this feeling though that if Rock were still around....it would do wonders for blues....thanks again

Harry never pushed Duke very much in the hunts or stud pen. He hunted and bred him for his own pleasure. A few local guys got pups but not many.

That's the same Mandy and She was Bred to Lightning yesterday.

Ray was and still is a hot commodity in The bluetick breed. Louis and JJ are breeding several females to Ray and HE IS REPRODUCING.( I know cause I have one in my yard) I'm sure you'll see him at a hunt or two this year too. There is a few that JJ never misses.

I think Mandy and Ray would be a super cross, but this will more than likely be Mandy's last litter and Charles has decided to breed her to Lightning. That is as close as he can get to the cross that reproduced Roxanne. And also Ray is 14+ hours away and Lightning is 30 minutes as well as several other nice studs.

Ray is out of Blue Moon Hoss(Dark Hollow Ghost x Lepper's Blue Misty)

and Williamson's Blue June(Mighty Blue Magnum x Mighty Blue Lou

I'll get you the 3 generation a little later.
