Hey Andy thanks for the update on your pup. Hope he keeps coming on strong for you! When you say he is very smooth I know exactly what you are describing Striker is the same way.

I'm working with a five month old, linebred Syris Mcgee, male pup. Thanks to Steve Morgan, by way of Rick G. Smokes Creek Whats Up Doc? is coming right along. He's going with the old dogs. He doesnt know what they are doing, but He likes to go along for the ride.

Ive got a few project going on...

Smokes Creek Proper Stomp, may be the most flawless hound Ive owned since Syris McGee... Im looking forward to trialing him in multiple registries, as he can do it all very well.

My Blacky dog is just needing a few points to finish in PP, and also will be running the summer Northern Hare trials..

And I have a young male out of Max, that is burning up the starting pen, Im told.. Add to that two spring litters and I would have to say "my whole kennel is a project for 2011"! Good luck to all of you, as I hope to hear good things in the future about these young hounds your all working with!

Good luck and best wishes on them all!

Rick

How do you prefer to start your pup's, in the field or in a pen? Then what is the first thing you look for, out of that pup? If you had a pup 4 or 5 months old going and staying with the old dogs, would you keep doing this or would you take it to a starting pen also?

Smokes Creek Boca Grande "AKA" BO anyone curious as to what Boca Grande means, its spanish for "BIG MOUTH"

Three crosses of Syris Mcgee. Will eventually compete in several registries and several formats. Clean running, Super Independent 15 incher that will never give an inch to pack pressure. Check out the short little clip of him doing it by himself last month.
