I kept one he was gamey as could be treed a bobcat at 10 mths........I could imagine if someone selected the to and mated what would be possible................Hey I have a working line German Shepard that is so smart you can almost have a conversation with her.......Might start a line of german plott.

i may be wrong, but i was thinking that the pac-man dog that greg maynard had that won the pkc world sq hunt a time or two was out of some stock some amish fellas had in ohio, that had a shot of collie in them.
im sure if greg see"s this , he could fill us in on how he was bred.

gun shy

justin i know a older gent that every couple years will bring in border collies from the old country. ireland.man there smart. now hes done this for 40 years.just for stock dogs, hes mentioned more than one time over coffee. in the last 10 years these imports tend to be scared of thunder and loud noises gun shots etc.now once he puts the new blood in his old line . most of that goes away. have you guys found this with any of the collie crosses etc. gun shy etc.your luke looks slick hair. did any come out long hair or is the collie line your using shorter haired.

I can't answer this as a whole, I'm not the one that is making the cross. We're crossing the second generation dogs. All I can speak of is the ones that i've hunted with. Most of the ones I've been around are short to medium hair length. I'm sure some come out a little shaggier. I haven't heard of any issues with them being gun shy. My dog has a nice hearty coat of hair. He's not as short haired as he looks in the pic. You would probably call him between short and medium coat. You don't have to worry about him freezing to death on the dog box.
