I'll go huntin & get my same ACTUAL range you are talkin about. One to two miles but I sure don't know what waitin for that park to open in a month or two has anything to do with ACTUALLY huntin?

I'll take a picture today for ya from 120 miles that way I can claim thats what I got. I know quite well what your tryin to convince me you know which you may. I did graduate 3rd grade I'll have you know!

Everybody into different things & clearly your hooked on phonic's,I mean gadgets. Good for you is all I can say. I sure hope there isn't a lot as like minded as you that can use their intellect on us simple folks, that prefer to do the talkin after dark.

I know what HAAT & RF mean to me but I doubt your gona find it in an encyclopedia or mean the same as your's.

You need'ta create your own GPS unit & put garmin outa business with your model,as long as the park is back open?????

Yep if you start out posting about a 16 mile range being not realistic and give an example of what is posible in perfect conditions but it won't happen in hunting conditions and have someone hit you with the way left crap two toes did I think the woods would look pretty good by now. As long as you were hunting by your self. LOL
Hard to grasp what is possible and what is probable. It is funny how if they haven't seen it it just can't be.

I know. I just don't get where he is coming from. He is acting like I said I could get 50 miles on a regular night coonhunting!
I would recommend anyone who believes the range that I describe from this location as being impossible, to google Mt. Mitchell and just look at some of the views. It is untelling on a clear day how far you can see with the naked eye, let alone how far an unobstructed 2 watt VHF signal will travel!

What kind of antenna? Beam, magnet mount, rubber duck?

That 2nd one down would probably work ok but it has the wrong connector on it. I would not want to stress my astro with a direct attached antenna of that length.
I recommend you not waste your time or money on either of these.

The first one will probably do no better than your rubber duck, besides, it has the wrong connector too.

I was trying to get a replacement connector for my magnet mount.

the guy at Radio Shack called it a reverse SMA connector. They didn't stock it and have been trying to find a place to get a replacement connector because the end of the cable got broke and the connector is permanantly put on.
