Just might be the type that won't hunt by herself, but hunts better with others.

Coonpounder the first time you rode a bicycle, were you a pro? I been coonhuntin' for 30 plus years and still learn something new every once in a while. And anytime you get a new dog its a new learnin' experience, for both dog and handler, hang in there and learn from this experience. And remember not to be like him. Then people will remember you for bein' honest.

Are you 21 and the court has not declared you mentally incompetent? Then welcome to the Sport my friend. Or Is that 18 now?

Papers don't make a dog any more than papers make a hunter. Sounds to me you have accomplished what you set out to do, have fun thats what its all about. Yes keep us posted. And best wishes.

I was not talking about you per se. Last night there was a neighboring thread about culls and putting a cull for free off on a kid "just starting out" like they were doing a favor. And I responded that if someone is 21 and the court has not ruled them mentally incompetent then go ahead and get what you can get for the cull, but please don't put it off on a kid.

I don't have a clue how old you are and I wlill go back and read the first part of this thread but it seems like you started off moaning about being took. Really hopeyou have good luck with the dog.

All they have to do is put their head in a nest. Yes I did very good tonight what with that storm front over my head I stayed home. Didn't even sneak out for a little bit.

Mr. Coonpounder

The bigest thing I or anyone can teach you at this early stage of your coonhunting carier is. There 3 kinds of coon hunters. 1 The Comp hunters. 2 The Pleasure hunters. And last but not least is the Computer coon hunters.

I truely hope you and your hound create fond memorys for each other. From reading your latter post it seems like your having FUN and that's what its all about. I personaly always tie a dog at a tree unless I have been hunting with this dog for years and know exactaly what its going to do when the coon is shot. Good luck with your new friend.

Thats the important part. It sounds like you are on teh right track with her so far. When I don't enjoy being out there anymore it'll be time to quit. Although my wife will tell you they'll bury me first most likely.

I do have a question for you though Coonpounder. Why did you pick a Redbone? I'm guessing that somewhere down the line you were watching Where the Red Fern Grows. right? That movie has sold more red dogs than you can shake a stick at, and before someone starts it no I am not talking bad about Redbones.
