Busseron Jack

Redbone male. Great pleasure coondog owned by Marshall Snyder of Paris Il. Jack was all coondog and accurate. Me being young and green and him being so accuate we went to a lot of hunts and didn't win our cast much. Never did make him a NTCH.
He will always be great in my mind, he had a coon or a den when he treed ( once in a while a possum ). No slick trees period. He spent a little too much time making sure he was right for competition hunting.
That dog made me love Redbones though.

A Black and Tan out of Northern Rocket that I bought as a 9 month old pup. At the time I didn't know the difference between Nothern Rocket and a bottle rocket, I just knew what a coonhound was. LOL I was in the Corps and hadn't hunted coons for 18 years and after watching "Where the Red Fern Grows" with my son I decided to get a pup. I was stationed in Beaufort, SC and drove to Ricon, GA and the gentleman had three male pups left. I took the houndy looking, bawl mouth runt and never looked back. By 12 months he was treeing his own, by 18 months there wasn't a coon in the Low Country that was safe. When I moved to PA I didn't know any coon hunters except a guy I met at a Dog Supply shop. We hunted alot and I helped finish his young walker male with my dog and they were a team. He suggested I comp hunt Thunder and I just laughed. Finally he said he would go with me and if I didn't place he would pay the fee. Well, Thunder did very well and a few hunts later he was a NTCh. Unfortunately Lyme disease took Thunder at the age of 6, but during that time he put smiles on a couple boys' faces and trophies in their hands at the Youth Nationals.

The 1st dog I hunted was NITECH 'PR' Plain Ole' Sam. He was so trashy as a pup that he was given to a deer hunter, & was run on deer for 2 seasons. He started treeing coons & possums early morning & late evening the 2nd year, & by the end of that deer season he had completely quit anything that wouldn't tree. I got him when he was 3.5yr old, & made him a NITECH. He made a tough old coondog.

Wheeler

1977 a Blue Dog Named Jordan's Blue Wheeler. He was a Grand
Son of Vaughns Mack and Williams Blue Jack on the dam's side. I finished him to a dual ch before he turned 3. I have been hooked ever since.

1980 Black n Tan Days

Back in the day of the 3 hour hunts, I entered my own 4 year old Black n Tan female. I did not win my cast that night. The following year I went on to finish her into Nt. Ch. Hassler's TamKris Barb in 3 weekends with 5 cast wins. The only Nt. Ch. cast I was ever able to enter her in before she was killed by a car was the 1982 Autumn Oaks were she won High Scoring Black N Tan female. I was 15 years old. She was out of the 1979 National Grand Night Champion of Breed Reik's Midnight King and a full littermate sister to Ed Able's Southern Comfort female. I was lucky enough to grow up next door to King and alot of his offspring and hunted against them almost every night.

First dog I comp hunted was GRCH PR Wilkinson's Jebb. I ended up putting a 2nd and 5th place wins on him, as well as many other club hunt wins. Never did get to make him a NITECH, he taught me more than any other hound has. He was a coondog through and through and was the same dog every night, every drop. He died this December, a month shy of 14 years old. I wish I would have known what I was doing in the hunts when I first started hunting him, a 15 y/o girl that don't know the rules is easy pickin's for some.

yeah she was nice i drew her a couple times.

seems like all the dogs from that first cross on zues and ruby were good dogs. i know the ghost dog i had out of them was a decent little dog.

1985 'PR' Hickory Hill Finisher call name Dan was the 1st dog I competition hunted. I won 1 cast and had 2 bad experiences. One was just plan ole extremely poor sportsmenship and the other I got cheated. The worst part was the cheater bragged loud and proud about it at the club house. At that point I had absoluetly no plans to ever competition hunt again.

A buddy finally talked me back into competition hunts a few years later, but at heart I am much more a pleasure hunter than a competition hunter. I do take pride in being one of the worst handlers out there ... figure if I can't be the best at least I am the best of the worst.
