Two thoughts:
I think maybe you're jumping to (feminist oriented) conclusions, a bit. He might just be concerned about your well being. I have no doubt a woman can be just as good a coonhunter. But, having a daughter myself, I'm not so sure I want her in the woods at night alone or with strange men in far off places that coonhunting will take you.
The other thing is every beginner has dampers put on their coonhunting desire from time to time. If you really want to do it, you'll work through the little "dampers" that come along. What daddy says seems like a very minor thing, to me....
