I will be going regardless of purins points or not. The grand American is only 5 hrs away for me.....plus the Winter Classic is in my home state about 4 hrs from home. I'm glad that the purina points looks more balanced for my traveling if we try to run it this year.

I believe the new program will give more people accross the country a chance. i know we are going to test the water and see what happens.
You notice that most people that don't like the new system are on the east side of the Miss Riv.
I know I've said that before but its just that we will be able to get to about the same within driving distance for us as everyone else unless you want to spend lots of money and if you do there is nothing wrong with that.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

Along with my own State hunt and what RQE's I need that's been my schedule for years whenever I can possible make it and have missed very few and many other local events also with nothing to do with Purina Points.
Our state hunt is back on this year and that's all I gained compared to opportunities lost. If I want to play Purina I'll have to pick up more miles at other state events and I'll say straight out it's not worth it for the Purina race alone on the bench show side for sure.
I feed Purina feed and a Platinum member of the Purina Pro Club and at this point feel I've lost one of my incentives to attend the bigger hunts and most state hunts don't stack up to what was removed.

Dale, I hope you and some of the other bench show people that have made this something awesome to watch and keep up with, will continue to participate.... as much as you can, anyway. It is a joy to watch you handle your hounds and cheer you on!

Thanks Cleo I appreciate that. A nice dog has a way of making a handler look good.
I hope to make a few more but the reality is Laurie & I are getting old and far from immune to the problems of aging. We're fortunate to have been there during good times and accomplished what we have. If it ended today I have very few regrets but if it don't I want to be there . Fact is I could get by without a dog, just like to be there.

Do you listen to a few of them whine or the people on the west side of the Miss. Riv. complain because on the distance they have to travel. You are not going to please everyone..
At our Ark. St. hunt last year we had 1 purina dog, and hunted about 155 in 2 nights.

There where 3 purina dogs there but you are right about the complaining.......

I have had one phone call concerning the Purina Points being removed from the GA. And , no he didn't want his money back.
The hunt numbers are a reflection on the amount of work put into making the GA a premeire event.Hopefully we will see the same thing in show entries.
I honestly don't think losing the Purina Point status will have any affect on us or on UKC's two major events.

I CAN'T COMPLAIN, SEEING HOW HELL HOLE PAYS OUR ENTRY FEE IN EXCHANGE FOR US TO GUIDE.
JUST WONDERING WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PURINA POINTS PART OF IT.

We have 85 hunting guides and 30+ non-hunting guides available, so we will have no problem hunting all entries!

I have had a few calls this week asking about the Final four format. -
We will use three non-hunting judges for the late round. Since this portion of the event is non-sanctioned, ALL DECISIONS BY THE JUDGES ARE FINAL.
If your hound wins its cast both nights then you will be eligible to make the final four. If we have more than 4 double cast winners we will take the four with the highest combined scores.
If we do not have four double cast winners we will take the highest one night scores provided your dog hunted both nights.
The dogs advancing to the Final Four will have competed both nights, no more winning on Friday night and resting your hound on Saturday until the final round. No more scoring high on Friday and taking Saturday off.
If you win your cast on Friday night with a high enough score to get you in and then get scratched for fighting on Saturday. You will be allowed to compete in the Final Four. If you are getting beat on Saturday night and YOU scratch your dog you will be disqualified from advancing to the Final Four. Dogs scratched in accordance with the rules will be eligible to advance. Dogs scratched by their handler will not.
Our goal is to award the consistent hound and we think this is the most fair way we could come up with.
