Battle of the Breeds Ada OK, gave $1500.00 in prize money but it was donated by local club and business and Purina. Thats the only way you can get cash prizes that I know of.

This is true you have to get sponsors involved. For some reason PKC has no prpoblem getting sponsors to put up money..

If they ever win a money hunt and take home six or seven hundred dollars it would sure change there way of thinking, and ill tell what else it does, it sure makes you like that old hound alot more. Heck one time i won a couple hundred at a pkc hunt and i took my hound out to eat at micky d's on the way home.

When you draw out those other 3 guys want to win as much as you do they are not gonna jepordize their win by tryn something stupid. A good point was brought up about money hunts bringing in folks from everywhere and the local boys cant draw out together. I know for a fact that stuff goes on i was asked in a ukc hunt one night to "Take it easy I only have one more win to grand and the next time we draw out i will lay back and let you win".

The next excuse is the club doesnt make enough money. I didnt know the cluns were for profit though all the club was gonna do is break even. How do these clubs know they arent gonna make any money if they dont ever try a few money hunts??

Dont get me wrong i hunt UKC also and enjoy hunting the hunts. But once you have made Grand you have no where to go you have maxed out. One thing a can say for PKC they have enough programs to keep you hunting for the life of your hound.

Dont det me wrong im not knocking UKC by any means. It just wrong to say that there are no cheaters in UKC. when we all know there is.. Come on guys try a money hunt every once in awhile. the whole idea of clubs and hunts is to bring more folks to the hunts.

I run into more cheating, more bickering, & more Blind men at 1 UKC hunt, than I have in all the PKC hunts I've entered in 2010. Snuffy's dead-on too! Ive been to a club or 2 this year that hold UKC & PKC hunts. You go to a PKC hunt, & you will have a big turnout, with people coming from all over AL & MS. The handler always have at least a good working knowledge of the rules, & for the most part know there dog well. Go to the same club's UKC, & it's like a totally different club using the same building. People have got tired of the BS, crappy guides, & buddy-buddy pencil whippings, until all that ever show up are the same 6-8 club members, and bad as it sounds, I believe they really are just taking turns titling-out their dogs. That's the only way I can think that a dog that night-in, night-out, won't get out from under your feet till something strikes, & then is found at every tree staring off into lala-land, but somehow has earned the NTCH degree and 3 wins toward GRNITE.

You couldn't get away with that crap in PKC/AKC, because the $$$ hunts draw people from all over, and the club members ain't gonna have it to themselves EVERY night

There are 2 answers to those that want to hunt for money in UKC. The nice thing about UKC is you can get some money AND you still get to work towards titles and pedigrees that mean something.

Slam hunts are one way to do it. My club had a minislam a few weeks ago. We had 4 casts of dogs which is much larger than any local PKC hunts draw. 4 cast winners got a NtCh win. They also got about $37 back on their $20 entry.

Another way of getting a few dollars back is the Perf. program. If you can draw 4 reg., NtCh, or GrntCh's to your local hunt, the winner will end up with somewhere around $45-$50 for his win. Not bad for a $15 entry fee and you won't have to hunt your 1 year old against someone's 5 year old GrNt.

If you figure your one yr old hound is good enough to put in a hunt it shouldnt matter the age or title of the dogs in the cast. Even in an open cast you might be hunting your one yr old against a 8 yr old dog. I figure if you want to win money that bad go to a money hunt not try to change things.
