sometimes you have to give 'em a little encouragement (a swat or two with a switch should do). learned from an old timer I trust to do this, pat your leg a time or two on your leg to remind him....may take 5-15 times regularly before he begins to get it and should go out further each time. Got one I'm working with now who is responding to this,but if the hunt night is hard (cold track, etc.) she won't go out very well. so if you can drop him on some hot tracks when doing this at this age, then you can work the cold ones after he begins to get it.
