Thanks for the replies. I dont think he's quite ready for the hunts yet. I was just wondering how old you usually let them get before you started to put them in hunts. I'm gonna wait until he is at least 2 yrs. old before I put him in any hunts even if he is ready. I still wanna hunt him a lil more by himself to build up his confidence. Then I will start hunting him with other dogs again. He got deep last nite and stayed treed till we got to him. We had to go back to the truck and drive around to the other road so he stayed treed till we got to him. Took us bout 30 min to drive out and around to get close to him. So he stayed put for about 45-50 min. by himself and had the coon. He ran the track for about 1/2 mile in the mountains. He has been 4 for 5 the last 5 times out with no slicks. He just needs a lil more experience before I start comp. huntin him and some more hair in his mouth. Which he has been getting quite often when he deserves it. He will 15 months old on the 16th.
