i cant say, mine got this before and mine got this after. because straight out of the box i updated my system. i have the dc40 collar with my system. i have gotten 2.5 miles before. thats the farthest i have seen and i never randomly lose signal. so im very happy with how everything works.

.

These systems are complicated, yet very simple to trouble shoot and fix.
Updates: They are worth it.
Deleting track log. Many people do not know their collar maintains a track log also. Not needed unless your downloading to computer so deleting the track log keeps the collar running better. Go the the page that has START or STOP tracking at the top and read from the list. About the middle it says delete track log. Communicate to the collar you want to delete the log on and do so.
Tracking distance. 1 mile is the average if you have the rubber antenna. Now if your getting a solid 200 yards and no more that is an indication of a vhf antenna problem. Etiher collar or handheld. Most of the time the collar antenna which can be changed out in 5 miinutes. Also if your range has slipped to 700 yards or 500 yards it is also probably the vhf antenna on the collar. If you have several collars on your handheld and all get 200 yards you broke the solder joint on the sma connection that the vhf antenn connects to. There is more but I am tired of typing lol
Call 386-972-4937 if I can help you trouble shoot your system. Please not all at once since I only have one line and not past midnight since I need to sleep.

Done all that and have 3 bars on one collar and 4 on the other here in the house. I will see tonight if it helped. I might need a new antenna. They are both blinking 3 times now.
