rmcmillan, your getting worked up over nothing. I just thought the idea of a cowbell instead of a beep beep was funny. Sorry if that offended you somehow. Didnt think anybody would take it that serious.

Humans have become very dependant on electronics. We are lazy. It does take alot of nerve to complain about this kind of thing. Like when your cellphone doesnt have a signal and you cant get on the internet with it when you are in the middle of the woods. Or you have a signal and you it taking to long to get on line. All this technology is amazing, when it gets a glitch in it we think it is the biggest piece of crap. Another example would be airlines, we complain cause of the security checks or it is taking forever to take off..................THEN GO RIDE A HORSE AND A WAGON CROSS COUNTRY. 10 out of 10 times the guy flying the slowest airline is going to beat the horse and buggy. We should be amazed of the fact that we can get on this airplane and fly at all. Think about how the Garmin works. The collar sends a signal to SPACE and then satellites send a signal back to the screen in YOUR HAND. AMAZING. And I can see if my dog is runinng or taking a dump. And see where it was.

THANK YOU GARMIN, I WOULD NEVER HUNT WITHOUT IT.

what i was talking about with the cow bell is that an old timer told me that back in the day he use to put bells on the dogs collars so that he could here which direction they are headed. I was just making a point that, using bells is just like using a beep beep. People lets get out of the 19th centnry. We use gps instead of maps. for the same reason we use the garmin, they are keeping up with the times. technolgy is moving ahead and there is no reason to use primative methods anymore. In a few years im sure a beep beep system is gonna be put up the attic with our 8 track tapes.

I hunt with Garmins. 95% of the time I don't have any other tracking collar on. So I'm very comfortable with the DC30. (DC40 is s different story)

I've Got 3-4 GPS systems all of them are Garmin, So I've been hunting with Garmin long before the Astro was even a Thought, I have had the RINO 530 for almost 5-7 years now and there are some small features that the RINO has that would be nice on the Astro.. For example my rino tells me the last time a contact was updated.. I would like that feature on my astro.. To know exactly when the last time My dog was updated would be a nice small feature.. (is this now considered belly aching, and Moaning??)

Garmin Does not Listen or is not Open for inputs. For all of you that haven't had any problems, I'm sure you've never waited on Hold for 45 minutes to get an RMA number... (I have to do that at least a couple times each month.)

I've had the Tech's basically try and blame the issue on me, and I've had good ones that were pleasant to deal with. I think I knew more about the product than most of the tech support.

The Field testers were mostly Bird Dog Suppliers. My guess is that Houndsmen Greatly out sell Bird Dog guy by a long shot. However they are not open to our ideas and are clueless about what we need.

So Don't take my critictal statements personal.. Yea Garmin is Great.. But do they have room to improve.. Yes they have some room to improve. Could they get in Tune with their Customers alittle more.. Yes..

Thank you Garmin for building this Product.. But you can do better, and If you want to upgrade learn your customer Base..

Just My two Dull Pennies worth..
Buddy

Everything can improve. I agree.

One thing you can do to eliminate the hold time is to do it on line.

It's quick, painless and it works. They get back to you quickly and you get your RMA number. Best of all, NO WAITING ON HOLD you can put your request in and go about your business.

absolutely positively love my garmin... went with a buddy the other night to "his woods", two hours away from my normal stomping grounds, on the way out of the woods, he said the truck was one way, i said it was the other. after sitting at the truck for 30 minutes waiting on him to come out, i followed the signal on the collar I had put on his dog and picked him up 2 miles away. i've pulled up on the side of the highway and headed the dogs off before they've hit traffic, and have saved myself countless steps in my own normal hunting spots.... moan and complain all you want about them, but, you couldn't tear mine out of my hands.

Love my Garmin. Sure makes it more enjoyable for the kids. We don't have to walk forever to find out we could've driven to within a few yards of them. LOVE IT!!!!
