I have posted a quote by English Babe . I must have hit the wrong key somewhere alomg the line. I too have friends ( girl friends) that finally get to where we hunt. Some of them (boy friends ) get there with their hackles up. Some are boy friends that do that. Married means exactly just that to this coon hunter, "This ain't no stray dog got put out and looking for a meal". She belongs to some body. Even if she got caught dead to rites chasing off after trash , It ain't up to me to lay a hand on another man's dog. That ain't right.
On the other hand, the female is a coon hunter, just like me. She don't want her hound chasing off after trash any more than me. We both got the same thing on our brains and that is to stop "ours" from chasing trash and to enjoy a job well done. We are equals in that respect. But to be honest with you, if a wife had an incling of going off and becoming a Country Music Star, I would keep a close eyeball on her if I wanted to keep her, Just take my advice.

I myself will hunt with a few other people and other dogs, but its maybe once or twice a month at best. At those times I enjoy it, but you make dogs hunting them and getting them to learn what they are doing by themselves. IMO hunting young dogs with a finished dog simply sugarcoats what the young dog is doing. It gets REAL easy to give your pup slack and think it is doing more than it is when an experienced dog is treeing coon, you are having a good time, and the pup is just out there with you. Now if you are out there and the pup is doing a nice job running and treeing with the old dog, its ready to be hunted alone and often with just you.

There is coonhunting and there is pup training. When they start to blend together your young dog is well on its way and then it is time to hunt with other dogs and other people. To me its a very different objective and a very different process. With more than one dog out there, dogs seem to go further, faster, and its way tougher to know what is going on and be able to keep up so you can either discourage or encourage your young dog when it makes certain moves.
