There are terms in genetics called genotype (genes) and phenotype (apperance). There were a couple of English studs that produced pups that in my humble opinion, had bird dog phenotype (charactoristics) that were different than normal English hounds. Some of these charactoristics would include silent trailing, pink noses and mouths, hyperness, hot noses, and unusual coloring. Some competition bred bird dogs have these charactoristics.

It is a well known fact that if you cross a competition bred bird dog to a strong tree bred hound, you can get dogs that can win competition coon hunts. It has been done with Curs and competition squirrel dogs also.

the american peop;e ae not pure bred either. we are made up of alot of immigrants from alot of other countries. but we are legal americans. i agree with arizona, the ones they want rid of are breaking the laws the government will not enforce.
