The feed doesn't directly give the dogs worms. If fed over time and their general health deteriorates as a result of poor quality feed, they may become more prone to all sorts of things due to an overall weakened system. Pretty basic stuff fellas.

I've got a question about feed. I've fed some I felt was junk way back when but for years now I've fed Purina in one form or another. Lately it's been Pro Plan Performance and after you get past the price and smaller bags most seem to agree it's good food. The other day I was reading on a site that rates dog food and they had 4star feed down to 1star feed . You guessed it , they didn't even recommend that I feed Performance to dogs and they didn't like Science Diet, etc., etc.. Most brands we talk about on here didn't even show up and there was ALOT of foods listed right down thru Pedigree, Alpo, etc.

My Question is who are these people ? Do they know what they're talking about or do they live in Hollywood and just think it has to cost $50 a little bag or what? I've seen a couple of these but at the moment can't remember where.

After all the reading, researching and listening to those who surely know what they are talking about, you still have your dogs out there in the kennel and they are the ONLY ones I listen to. I refuse to pay a dollar a pound for dogfood no matter how terrific it is suppose to be. We all have our budgets. My dogs look good, are always healthy, get hunted prolly alot harder than most and do very well on $19.00 per 50#. That is all I need to know about dogfood.

so just because i feed from 5 to 10 dogs this is not the best feed i can get in east tn that is 20$ or less per bag my dogs do fine on it or at least i thought they did if i fed good food they may win alot of hunts or go even farther than they do when we hunt or may make em have more coons when they tree cause they feel better no i'm not new at it either i been doin this since i had to hold my daddys back pockets and he pulled me up the hills around dale hollow lake back then the dos done good on just about anything you could get to feed em??what has chaged so much in 30yrs and how many dog food companies is a man gonna make rich when every one is better than the last one?
some say nutrionally complete that i would not put in coon feeders its all just a big ole mess dog food lol

growing up close to the sexton mill alot of people feed sextons to there hunting dogs. they always seemed to do good on it, and it sure didn't affect there go or stamina. i know alot of people that has hunted for more years than i've been alive around here and they swear by sextons. i have feed quit a bit of it growing up because i had access to it and it was all i could afford on my lawn mowing money. i had quit feeding it for years because i started listening to all the dog food hype and thought more expensive feed would help my dogs. i've feed purina, black gold, southern states, river run, buddy boy, and sextons. and truth fully i can't tell much difference in the way my dogs look or act.
i started back feeding sextons this winter, they had a 20/20 orange bag that i hadn't tried before. my dogs ate it real well, a shovel full of droppings a day. stayed looking real healthy. the only down fall i had to it is every time i reach in the food been my feed scoop would be covered in grease. i switched them back on buddy boy when it started warming because i got to thinking about the dogs digesting all that grease. i don't know if it would really hurt them or not, but i wouldn't turn down a piece of chicken because it was greasy.

all i know i have always fed my dogs a good meat based dogfood .the problem now is the ecomomy has made it so that many people now can't afford the price of some of the better dog food but there is a limit as to whats suitable and whats not a suitable dog food if you have too many dogs to feed perhaps you need to cut back on the amount of dogs your feeding and not the quality of what you feed them i know there was a time i had financial difficulties and rather than cut the quality of feed i cut the number i was feeding.
dale a lot of the people that are gradeing dog food havent got a clue some of them don't even own a dog or have any knowledge of what a dogs needs are. a lot of the animal rights people are involved in this sort of thing. i guide myself as to quality and whats junk by actual research. i have noticed a lot of real well dogs has fertility problems what i'm trying to do is research if some of it is caused by improper or additives in dog food or its in the bloodlines i really believe it comes from what these dogs are being fed or it may be both.

well if you can't afford to feed your dog properly sell them or give them to someone that can if you look at it in a realistic way you can get a decent bag of dogfood of 5o pounds for 20 to 25 dollars a bag and actualy good food is cheaper than poor food the dog eats less and will be healthier they will live longer with less health problems most alergies in dogs comes from the grains used in cheap foods when you consider the cost of taking care of alergy problems this cost could be nothing if you fed a better food

i have tryed joy purina and alot of the otheirs and for the last 2 years i have been getting sexton my dogs looks probably better on it than any otheir alot people think giving that big dollar for the food make it better and makes the dog perform better well i dont think thats true as for the dog performing i think its what in its chest i am talking the heart and drive in them so for the dog food try sexton you want regret it

love this feed low stole dogs look great ive been fooling with dogs a long time and have tried all kinds of food. there are alot of good ones out there but sexton is one of the best. im feedin 21 10 this time of yr but switch 2 the 22 16 in the colder months. its the only kind i can get around here . my vet says the lower the crude fiber the better its for digestabilty sexton about 3.5 percent
