it aint illegal to hunt over bait in nc on PRIVATE land. like what has already been said i dont really care if there are buckets or no buckets if u got a real dog itll tree either way n have the meat.

I would venture to say if you want to win in comp. around the country you better have your dog trained to hunt on and off of buckets.............If it hasn't been tough what to do it is going to run into all that pool scent at the bucket and sit down. Probubly under a slick or a possum. LOL
If you have hunted it on buckets to much. It ain't going to hunt or it is going to blow threw ground till it hits something real hot.

I TO HAVE BUCKETS OUT BUT I HAVE JUST AS MANY NAKED DROPS AND I USE THEM. MY LITTLE DOG ISN'T BUT 18 19 MONTHS OLD AND I WOULDN'T BE SCARED TO BUMP HIM OFF WITH ANYTHING OF HIS AGE RIGHT NOW. HUNTED IN UKC HUNT TONITE AND THERE WASN'T A TRACK ON THE DIRT HE TREED 2 LAYUPS FIRST AND FIRST AND SHOWED US THE ONLY COON ON THE CAST. I BELIEVE IN ALONE HUNTING TIME AND IT IS REALLY STARTING TO PAY OFF. I PROB DON'T HAVE ANY BIZ EVEN PUTTING A DOG OF HIS CALIBER IN THE HUNTS YET, BUT HE'S ALL I GOT AND I ENJOY THE HUNTS. You can hunt deer over bait in NC. About every patch of woods has a bucket or some type of feeder in it somewhere. I have never heard it was illegal to use feeders. I will check on it.

I have a bucket or two out to train a pup. Then once they start they look for there own. I do not think they should be in hunts. How can you regulate it though.

In Pa the law dose not allow you to hunt over or around bait. If the game commision finds bait they will post area to hunting for a certain period of time. How long I do not know.

In Maryland we can hunt over bait on private property with the land owners permission. Not on state ground. I have seen and hunted around feeders on state ground though. Also in Md we have to have written permission and have it with you to hunt on private property. Verbal will not do, even if the owner is talking to the DNR while he is fineing you. I guess I will call governor to get permission to hunt state ground.

My club is in Md where we have guys hunt Md, Pa, and Wv. So if UKC would say no buckets in Pa due to there laws would this be a fair playing field? Md and Wv will pound buckets and Pa would not.

Where I hunt and there are no buckets some nites there are alot of coon and a week later you would swear there was not one for 20 miles.

Just something more to think about. Good hunting guys.

We are supose to have written permission too but nobody does. I have permission for thousands of acres and not one in wrighting. Don't think they could enforce it except in season. Ant other time you are not hunting. You are just running.

Virginia is Very Clear About Any Bait !!

Hunting With Dogs
•Dogs may be used to pursue wild birds and animals during hunting seasons where not prohibited.
•When the chase begins on other lands, fox hunters and coon hunters may follow their dogs on prohibited lands, and hunters of all other game, when the chase begins on other lands, may go upon prohibited lands to retrieve their dogs, but may not carry firearms or archery tackle on their persons or hunt any game while thereon. The use of vehicles to retrieve dogs on prohibited lands shall be allowed only with the permission of the landowner or his agent. Any person who goes on prohibited lands to retrieve his dogs must identify himself when requested by the landowner or his agent.
•Unlawful to use dogs when hunting any species with archery tackle during any archery season.

•Unlawful to chase with dogs or hunt with dogs or to attempt to chase or hunt with dogs any wild animal from a baited site or to train dogs on any wild animal from a baited site. Furthermore, it shall be unlawful to place, distribute or maintain bait or salt for any wild animal for the purpose of chasing with dogs, hunting with dogs, or the training of dogs. A baited site will be considered to be baited for 30 days following the complete removal of all such bait or salt.

•It is unlawful to intentionally cripple or otherwise harm any game animal for the intent of continuing a hunt, or chase, or for the purpose of training dogs. Upon treeing, baying, or otherwise containing an animal in a manner that offers the animal no avenue of escape, the person or the hunting party shall either harvest the animal if within a legal take season and by using lawful methods of take or terminate the chase by retrieving the dogs and allowing the animal freedom to escape for the remainder of the same calendar day.
•It is unlawful to dislodge an animal from a tree for the intent of continuing a hunt, or chase, or for the purpose of training dogs.

Training Dogs
The training of dogs on live wild animals is considered hunting and is unlawful during the closed season except as noted below.

It would show that they could atleast run and tree there own coon but it would be a lot harder in some parts of the country than others.

Buckets are allowed to be used in PA. Heck out of season, you can load your hunting spots with corn and feed for all PA game and face zero consequences.
