I was not there, but my buddy was. He said that he had a great time. His dog was on that cast and his dog only had 1025( only). He said the rat dog that won it looked good. He is from Wv and said he had never seen that many coons.

Some of you folks do not read very well. My question on the 1700+ score if it was scored with 4 cast members on a random draw or 2 fellows out by themselves with a dream of winning Autumn Oaks? I would still have my doubts about a 1700+ score with 4 cast members seeing all of the coon and signing off on it but if it was just 2 guys and a scorecard, well, I know how that is done. If you all want, I can relate about the last large hunt I participated in. My dog place high and would have placed higher but a dog that was in the hole and basically, didn't look like he could tree a coon in the first 100 minutes and 4 witnesses, suddenly treed 5 coon in 20 minutes and won the hunt when there was 2 witnesses. He was wrote up and I drove to Autumn Oaks so I could hear first hand on how this dog did this great feat, and lo and behold, they had a closed door meeting. I guess they didn't want anyone asking any questions. Why go to a hunt? I am honest and can't beat that kind of scoring. Ray, what was the high score at the PKC hunt just down the road held at the same time? All cast members are required to stay with the cast at that hunt.

lets do the math 120 minutes in a nite hunt. First and First is 225. If all dogs are treed you don't have to wait five minutes so 1700 divded by 225 approximatly 8 coon being scored thats one coon ever 15 minutes.
My best was 10 coon in two hours pleasure hunting in the winter where the coon had not been hunted in over 6 years. In the summer time I don't know? If that kind of score would really be possible because not every coon will look so to rack up that kind of score you would most likely have to make more trees than 8

Amen!!! Same here. Hank just got his 1st on 8/30 with 125+. We were the only registered cast to even STRIKE a coon!!!

When Molly got her 2nd, she had 50+ and was tied for 1st. She had 25 more minus.

When Bull got his 2nd, he had 237 1/3. on 2 coons.

When Bull got his 1st, he had 387 1/3 on 2 coons.

The highest score I have ever saw around here, That was the Nite Champion cast at Franklin NC back in June or July and that was 1100+.

I about fell out of my chair.

you have told that story befor and i'm not doubting your version but don't you yhink it's time to move on seems like everytime a major hunt is over you bring the same thing up how would you feel if you won fair and square and someone brought this up and caste a doubt on the validity of your win and the biggest thing your baseing your doubt on the word IF

A big score shouldn't be so unbelievable.

Take a big hunt like AO with so many casts. That improves the chances that everything will go just right for someone to bring in a good score. The right guide, maybe the cast whittled down to two dogs, which by the way is probably not the fault of the two dogs left, a cast into coons that are climbing quick, a dog that can tree a coon and do it right, a handler that can call his dog and so on. I'm not saying everything is ALWAYS on the up and up with these big scores but until someone has a shred of evidence that its not, then there's no reason to doubt a hunt won with 1700+ any more than one won with 200+.

Posted a big score in the 80s--all cornfield coon, short race and popup. Never had a question on the legitimacy as the non-hunting judge was the local preacher. A coondog can get it done under the right conditions.

Dave, the hunt down the road is under different rules and sometimes a different style of dog. I've seen some dogs do outstanding and completely switch into a different mode when all the others are out of the cast. A hound that gets deep by itself and has a coon will sometimes move in and hunt closer without the competition and bam bam bam he's treeing coon one right after the other.

Look Dave this can be debated till the cows come home, why don't you try a new approach to things and quit all the pot stirring controversy. If you can't take getting beat or losing with grace then maybe you should stick to catfishing and singing in the garage band.

No one has answered the original question, was the 1700+ score witnessed by 4 cast members or just 2 guys and a scorecard. Scoring 1700 points competing against 3 other Grand Nite Champions and shutting them out on 8 coon is quite a feat, a unbelievable feat. But, something tells me it may not have happened this way. Let's hear the real story.
As for the other hunt, you go by the coon treed, not the scores. And, a coondog is a coondog and UKC's dogs are not any better than PKC dogs. Alot of times, it is the same dog. No one has posted PKC's score yet.

...we hunted in Indiana. Plenty of coons. We had 4 cast that scored over 1000+. That is 2% of the total cast. That is not impossible.

It took 450+ to get in the top ten. Once again, very realistic. In fact, 4 years ago, I hunted registered at Oaks and missed the top 10 with 400+. The bubble was once again 450+.

Dave, I truely understand what you are trying to say. I do not believe you can see every coon that you tree here in the country that I live in. Every major hunt seems to get the same questions about being truthful. I personally hunted Autumn Oaks 2 years ago with an outstanding Silvertone Hammer female that was as acurate as they come and she had 5 trees of to herself and was not able to squall could not find any of them. If we tree 5 coon a night in Ohio we will find 3 of the 5, and trust me we hunt very good hounds, slick treeing is a huge fault in our books. After what happened to me at English days I truely do not trust any UKC events any more. I hunted the last 15 years in UCK and will never hunt in any more. Too many people that are not very honest. That is all I have to say about this matter but Dave I fully agree with you.

OK Dave I'll patronize you a little, a little Walker female won her casts all 3 nights in North Vernon and scored 425-200-375. The high score that I've seen any of the nights was 800+ and that same dog scored 125+ on another night. The other high scores were 700 and 625, and I may be off on some of these a little, trying to remember. Sure some of these same dogs are hunted in both hunts, one of our females that we hunt in both registeries almost always doubles her score in UKC, its a different hunt, differerent rules and in PKC face it most any dog that wins consistantly will get by itself, and sometimes you have 3-4 dogs all split by themselves and you cannot call timeout while going to the trees and it burns time. I sorta understand what your saying, hopefully the winner with the big score can come on here and defend himself, but don't be surprised to find out its legit.

You always bring up the time you got supposedly cheated, why didn't you confront it then? Its too late now Dave, put it in a box and bury it FOREVER! Futhermore, how do we solve the problem if there is one? Surely I wasn't happy with the coon and coon movement where I got put, but thats part of the game, win-lose-draw. Come up sometime Dave, I'll put you in some good coon hunting.

Dave I agree with you. I don't believe that in 2 hours that a dog can tree that many coons AND find them all. I have hunted all my life and am 51 years young. Have hunted with some of the best dogs and could not always find all the coons. But when and if there are 2 hunters and a scorecard they can do what they want to. Say 10 minutes for the dog to strike and tree a coon, 10 minutes gong to the tree, 5 minutes looking for the coon, repeat same on each coon, there is no way you can score 1700 + points in two hours even if you have first strike-first tree. You would need to have 8 coons with first strike and first tree for each and have it all done in two hours. This is under Perfect conditions with no room for any error at all. If they treed 2 coons in one tree but then you can only count one coon so...
I don't believe a score of 1700+ can happen in a 2 hour hunt. Perfect weather, perfect trees, perfect dogs, perfect score.....

A dog named Roxy ( walker dog ) won in the PKC her scores were 425 plus, 200 plus, and 375 plus for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night ....that was in IN over three nights totaling 6 hours of hunting. Got this info from the PKC web site.

If the score had been turned in by a dog from Dave's kennel, he would never question it. It would be because of his superb breeding practices. It's because it's someone else's dog is why he can't believe it. You never heard him question the score when Goody won English days.
