It is my understanding also that Purina has dicontinued Hi Pro! As has been mentioned above...Sam's has a dog food in their Members Mark line that they say on the bag that it compares to Purina Hi Pro.

I saw this in the Sam's where we shop not long ago. It's called High Performance I think!

"Member's Mark Performance provides unsurpassed nutrition for the dog you love. Member's Mark Performance is a great tasting, complete and balanced food source for dogs. Specially formulated by experts in animal nutrition, this formula includes all the essential vitamins and minerals dogs need to stay healthy and active while providing extra protein for those dogs with high activity levels. Member's Mark Performance has a great meaty taste dog's love. Quality proteins nourish and support strong, healthy muscles. Essential fatty acids maintain proper immune function, while nourishing your dog's skin and coat system. Calcium supports strong bones and healthy teeth. The crunchy kibbles and meaty pieces help maintain clean teeth and healthy gums. Made from quality proteins and grains, this product is easy for dogs to digest. Member's Mark Performance contains many essential vitamins and minerals dogs need to maintain overall good health and wellness.

Unsurpassed nutrition for the active dog you love
Delicious meaty taste dogs crave
Quality proteins nourish strong, healthy muscles
Calcium for strong bones and teeth
Essential vitamins & minerals for overall health and wellness
Essential fatty acids for healthy skin & coat
Crunchy texture keeps teeth clean and gums healthy
Complete & Balanced for all life stages, including puppies, pregnant & nursing females
Protein Min 27.0%
Fat Min 15.0%
Sam's Only Product

Ingredients
Meat and bone meal, ground yellow corn, ground wheat, corn gluten meal, animal fat (preserved with BHA and citric acid), wheat middlings, soybean meal, animal digest, salt, potassium chloride, choline chloride, zinc sulfate, vitamin E supplement, ferrous sulfate, color added (red #40, yellow #5, blue #2), L-lysine, zinc oxide, niacin, copper sulfate, vitamin A supplement, biotin, manganous oxide, calcium pantothenate, vitamin B12 supplement, thiamine mononitrate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of vitamin K activity), riboflavin supplement, sodium selenite, calcium iodate, folic acid, vitamin D3 supplement, cobalt carbonate."

I think Sam's is like Walmart in that they carry different merchandise in different stores. It was also mentioned above that Purina bags it for Sam's.

Just passing this along for people to consider for themselves since there is so much interest in finding new dog foods. I'm not promoting or recommending anything.

Every body keeps complaining about the price increase and poundage dropping of purina why not switch. There are better foods for alot better prices. Purina dog chow is like feeding ol roy exact ingredients. So its why not switch??? An it was a bad shipment of corn that caused all those problems with diamond and I believe they now have a 151 check system which prevents another thing like that from happening.

Purina

I've tried alot of different feeds over the past few years, because I felt Purina was too expensive. I always liked Hi-pro, especially in the winter months.
Well, after trying all those feeds - I am back with Purina and plan on staying.

I went from Purina to the Southern States brand feed and am going to have to switch back. My hounds just cant digest it near as good. Purina is high but I always seem to come back to it after a round or two with a new brand.

I have always fed Purina. My hounds have always done well on it. If it aint broke there's no need to fix it.

Sams Members Mark dog food is the same as the Purina Dog Chow, but our store sells the Members Mark for only a dollar less than the Purina. Since we're in the Purina pro club, we make more by spending the $1.00 more and using the purina points.

We feed our pregnant, nursing, and house dogs Pro Plan. Tried PetCo last week since I was in the neighborhood. TSC sells our Pro Plan lamb and rice for $34.99 for 40 pounds. PetCo was $42.99!! Aren't they like, supposed to be a dog and cat place? Wondering how they can justify their prices?

This is what bothers me. Purina wont call on the local stores anyore and Purina doesnt allow the small guy to be competitive. My main problem with how they do business.

EXCEED is in 44 # bags in our Sam's stores. Some of the other Members Mark dog foods are in 50# bags but not EXCEED. EXCEED is the top of the line Members Mark dog food. Also, it was stated above that the food in Sam's Members Mark dog foods is in fact Purina!

some say that purina dog food and the members mark brand are the same. my hound says different. he will eat purina and do very well on it but will walk away from a bowl of members mark. the members mark also smells bad. may have been a bad couple of bags but I won't buy it any more.
