I think it has more to do with it not cureing out on the cob while on the stock. Not corn that you buy in a sack.

Sory it took me so long to get back about the feeder. I was going to put picks of mine on here but I have to make new ones out of flex pipe that I can wrap around a tree. Leaveing them on the ground lets every thing eat and everthing comes to these suckers. I didn't take no time for hords of wild life to come to these things.

David, I could be wrong but I think they are talking about the Aflatoxin that comes when corn molds, not when it's soured and kept under water.

Mold doesn't grow under water.

It does when it stays damp, like standing in a field in warm weather (which would make sense with them making people plow their corn under etc).

I could be wrong, but I think that is what they are talking about. Aflatoxin is a liver toxin, it kills things slow because it takes a while for the liver to die.

Again, don't know the specifics of what the Ky folks are saying, but it surely sounds like they are talking about Aflatoxin (dog food companies have trouble with this too, and it kills dogs if it is in the dogfood).

I can tell you what I am going to do. I am going to get some flexable pipe about 2 -3 inch in diameter and cut some 1 1/2" holes in it. Put some caps on the end, wrap it around a tree and chain the ends together with the holes looking up. Then I am going to fill it with syrup.

I don't know about that, David had said that the KY game and fish were saying soured corn killed game.

Okie said the gubment was making farmers plow under their standing corn etc due to it killing game.

I was pointing out that standing moist/wet corn is different than corn under water and that the slow death from liver toxicity was likely from Aflatoxin.

I was just pointing out the difference in moldy corn and fermented corn under water.

wat ky fish and game say

soure corn even in tire feeders that the corn in standing watter does in fack kill game they say it makes there mouth hurt so bad they cant eat and then starv to death .i dont know how excackley how to explain it to you but you can go to there web sit and ask questions and they are more than glad to explain it to you,and why i kill the oldpossem out off my feeders is simple i dont wount to feed them my dog food they are plenty every where here and if you got a dog that will tree them you could tree one every 50 feet.when a dog trees a possem with one of my dogs loose they get the hell out of dodge,,and yes corn with mold kills game also they even talk about it...befor i lernt better i put out one tire feeder i soured the corn in a 5 gallen bucket then put it in the tire with water run over it was so full and had a dog food feeder rite becide it and the coon would not eat one pice of the soure corn it stayed there till it rotted and dryed up and the coon was eatting a 5 gallen bucket of dog foor every 3-4 nights but that onley means they like dog food better and it help the coon more so now and 4 a long time i onley feed dog food to help ower coon poplaction grow,i even wormer them with goat wormer or dog wormer in the dog food and puor pancak sourop over it so they eat the worm medican and it helps them raise bigger litters of kitten coon,i guess you get back out of wild life wat you put in it and i love the wild life and also eat plenty of it so i give back more than i take and if we all did this just think of the game there would be in places where it is not so plentfull..we did not have acorns or beach nuts here this year 4 no game but we halled in truck load after truck load of corn to feed the deer and all wild life on my fame and by the gaim picters and my wirless camers that i can see the game with in my home it sure did help all game of every kind here is mud fat,,but dont even think of slipping in or you will be cought befor your second foot steep is made, but if you ask you can coon hunt it every night long as the deer season is closed becalus it is least to some great guys that deer hunt and have onley shot one deer here in 2 years they just mostley like to look.

Feeden your coons

Just put your corn in the creek about 4 in deep in a eddy where currents not so strong . The scent foats down stream brings um in and most other critters wont eat it ,keep it simple.

candy

Are you talkin about the coon candy? If so you need to try this corn for deer called record rack the coons it better than coon candy cause with coon candy they'll eat some and leave for a while with record rack they eat it every nite and belive me if you put it in any feeder the deer can't get in the coons will run all the deer off

feeders

I have put cheap dog feed in mine, when I do put one out. I have run across some on other property that I and others have permission to hunt. They leave the trash lay around. Sardine cans, peanut butter jars, jelly jars ( grape & strawberry). I guess they eat it, but I hate to see the trash lying around. Dogs could get feet cut. And I think it sucks to leave this on someone elses property. I have let the land owners no that the feeders are not mine. If the land was mine they would clean it up and not come back.
