Jed or "Whom it cocerns" at UKC, I have been a UKC breed inpecter since the first year they required it and a licensed bench show judge for more years than I care to remember, I saw the pup in question in person yesterday Jan 29th, This pup is 100% purebred beagle just colored differant, he's more of a "Black with grey tint". Theres is NO WAY this pup should be denied a UKC litter registration. Think you guys are getting alittle TOO PICKY here. JMHO

Some have green or yellow eyes too, not just blue. But what siriusbeagles said is right on, these dogs are just faded tri-colors & their fur/eyes are dilluted versions of their actual color, which is most likely tri-color w/brown eyes...

Yeah your right I have seen em with hazel eyes, and you are right the grey color fur is a diluted gene of black. Both parents must carry this gene to get a pup like that.

You can buy this one.But I can't guarantee you UKC will give me his papers.$300.00-Scott Fluhart,Jed is probably in Georgia this week-end and you may not get to talk to him this monday. When you do don't forget to tell him about this pup.I'm not sending the letter they sent me back with the 3 pictures because I don't want him single registered.

He should be litter registered along with the rest of the litter. There is no breed disqualification based on eye color. There is no preference to coat color or markings when judging a bench show.

Silver / Gray Male Pup

Ron,
I myself have sent an e-mail to Mr. Jed Nichols on behalf of you and this pup. This pup should at least be recognized as a Tri-Colored male pup, however, I realize that you were being honest when filling out the litter registration paperwork and yes he most definitely is a nice looking pup with Gray / Silver Tint to his coat.

Honesty is always best as it prevails in the end!!!!

Personally, I have read over the qualifications for registering beagles and I can not find a disqualifying factor for not litter registering this pup. Hopefully, Jed or Allen will be contacting you concerning the registration of you pup. I hope he makes an awesome rabbit dog for you or whom he is sold to.

On the pup papers it has a box for Other:__________ in the color area.

I know that you could not registar a beagle that is of one solid color or at one time black & white only.

Good Luck,
Fred

Honesty

Honesty some times can come back and bite you in the butt, but like you said Fred it will always win in the end. When I became a UKC represenative(Master of Hounds and Bench show Judge)I said I would do the right thing to the best of my ability.With-in the last month I have done what I thought to be the Right thing with UKC.Both incidents have gotten me in a spot with them,The first one wrongly accused me of posting some-thing on the UKC Beagle Classifieds board, and I was threatened to be removed from posting.I saw a set of papers that was signed by the owner and the buyer wasn't filled in,I brought this to UKC attention, and was told that's none of my business.(so much for being a Represenative of UKC)The second was putting the real color on this pups registration certificate. It would of been just as easy to put TRI-COLOR but where it says other: I put the truth.Silver-White & Tan.It looks silver, but I would accept grey.To end this I will say one thing,If I ever have another Silver Beagle(with this breeding I surely will)We'll be going through this again, because I call them the way I see them.

Actually a Representative of UKC Beagles and coonhounds

Not an actual Field representative but a Bench show judge for beagles and Coonhounds.Which means I represent UKC in general.

Silver pups

I have a female beagle thats Indian Hills bred that consistently throws silver pups!! Dont know why guess its a dominant color gene in her blood? Ill try and post a pic of them... I have 2 right now that are 7 weeks old.

The sire must carry the gene as well.

Silver(grey)

I think the problem with my litter registration form was I put down Silver White Tan - It may of been better to put down Grey White Tan,my opinion is he's silver not grey but grey will work for me.I'm still naming him Mon River Silver Bullet. This pup will be for sale when this battle is over.$300.00 firm.(304)983-2849 or (304)692-6932.

Here's the post I had on here about your new pup.As you can read in the post, there's several Champion bench show dogs that are Silver(grey) in color.I'm actually a UKC bench show judge and can assure you he has no disqualifying faults. He's out of 2 world Champion Bench Show dogs, and his Sire is also a Bench Champion. He has to be 6 mo. old to show and the way he's looking now I see no problem with showing him then.Good Luck with your new pup.Ron Cumpston
