I know you can win in the hunts with it BUT,
DO YOU CALL THIS A COONDOG?

Would you recommend a dog like this to a friend that was looking for a nice coondog?

it sounds like a dog that would make it to me shocking collar take it to the fields with deer ,rabbits, fox pen ect. u can cut the end of a sock out slip it on his collar put deer scent or fox scent on it for a week or so . i would like to have a dog that aready hunts coon but that kind of dog sounds like he's got the will to try an please u. be really nice to them when they do good .

Some interesting replies

In this case the person that owns the dog does not want to break it. It gets on the card quick, and first most of the time.

I personally do not like a dog like this but many do. I was curious as to how many would call it a coondog and recommend it to their friend if they were looking to buy a dog and they would have to hunt with it when they went together.

Trash free hounds
I have a 4 year old English male out of a bloodline that is known for being trash free. He has never run any off game and hunts hard and wide at times. He barked at an armadillo one time when he was a young feller and I told him NO. That is the only time in his life that I have seen him show any interest in anything other than a coon and he walked right up on it. If he barks it is a Coon.
There are some lines of dogs that are more naturally focused on coons than others, but this one was born in my backyard.( same line though) LOL

There are enough hounds out there with many different styles and characteristics that a person can find anything they want if they look hard enough. IMO, it is best to find what you like and hunt it regardless of what anyone else thinks or likes. A dog only has to please one person and that is the person that feeds it.
Keep the comments coming, it is interesting reading.

when i start a pup it is just me and that pup no old dog. i trap a lot of coon for it.when he starts going crazy for the coon i will turn it lose a cross a feild and let him see it run off.when the coon is gone for about ten minutes turn the pup lose.if he trees it fine if he don't fine sooner then later he will start treeing them, pop every one out to him.take him to feeders by hisself.if he don't strike any thing go straight back to the truck.i usually do that around five to six months old.put as mush coon sent in front of him as you can.when they learn they are going to look for that one certain sent they hardly ever run any thing else.i have a nine month old i have never shocked or whipped for running of game and i will send him through a herd of deer.trash running is in blood.never seen many ratattack dogs that liked to run off game just liked to tree coons.

I think what some of you critics are over looking is the fact that the dog is leaveing it's own track to go me too another dog. The trashing isn't the only problem.

what would you question?

So you want a dog that will go strike on anything, then pull off and go cover a real dog. I hope you don't breed dogs or atleast people have the good sence not to buy anything from your line.
One question; what do you do if you just want to take your dog out by itself or get a cast of dogs that are just like yours. LMAO

First, I do not own a dog like this. Will I hunt a dog like this long NO, would I sell a dog like this YES. I don't breed dogs, why would I need my own line even if I did like this type of dog. Go to some hunts no I don't mean the one down the road 10 miles I mean hit the road. There are more of these dogs out there then one could ever imagine. What is even worst if the fact that 90% of those guys don't even know what the heck there dog is doing. As long as they end up treed they think the dog was doing right.
