I still think there's some confusion... television shows and dvds cost money to produce. You don't always have to pay to acquire coverage, but if you help cover the costs, you often get to share in the exposure.

Five of the thirteen episodes in the first season of Tailgate Adventures were set aside as an opportunity to not only show great hound action, but also offer the opportunity for some advertising. And as all advertising, it cost money. And through these advertising dollars, some houndsman helped make the first tree dog television show, a reality.

I don't beleive the Legends DVD series are intended as a mini-series or feature film, there an opportunity to see more of a stud dog or bitch, than just a picture in a magazine. As well as an opportunity to capture video of a dog, that someone in the distant future may find of interest. Who wouldn't like to look back and see some of the legends of the 70's and 80's, blowing the top out of a tree???

There are certainly a great deal of stud dog owners of every breed spending money on advertising, they just haven't exercised these other options.

Anyone that says it BS to get it from strike to tree is not telling the truth. I nhave been video taping dogs for around 25 years and I have well over 100 different dogs from strike to tree. Yes, I use special areas to do it but it is very possible. And, most of my videos show the coon. Every one should do that unless you have a slick treeing dog. There are some areas getting it from strike to tree would be harder to do, I do a lot of recording in little patch areas.

Folks, there is an obvious solution to getting your dogs on a DVD. Make your own. You can buy decent camcorders that plug into any computer for less than $100. Better camcorders cost a little more but not much more. All come with hardware and software to hook into a computer these days. Most modern computers have DVD burners and MovieMaker software. If you do not have MovieMaker, you can download it from Microsoft for free. Editing home videos is very easy. If you want your dog on a DVD, get your camcorder out and make a video. Brian Oglevy is not doing anything anything anyone else can not do fairly easily. The same with Tailgate Adventures, I am sure they have top of the line equipment, that does make a difference, but they are not doing anything I haven't done for years. Maybe better than I do it, but not that much different. And, I have been doing my beagles and squirrel dogs also for 20+ years.

I posted videos on Buckshot's Coondawg web site many years ago. I asked him to remove them but he won't. I reckon they are the best videos he has got on his site because he won't remove them. How many years have they been on the site, Drew?

I've watched your videos before Mr. Haugh(it been a few years) and in my opinion I didn't think they were that good. Sorry for being honest

If you can get a dog tracking and locating, you must be hunting close hunting slow track dogs.

I hadn't read this post before I quoted you the first time. You must have had hundreds of close hunting slow track dogs = breeding stock?!

I have video recorded many times and you could hear both my dogs strike tree and locate. And both of them would flat out move a track and go until they get treed. Can you always hear it all happen? NO but often you can. I can't stand seeing dogs tree and not show the coon, just my oppinion though. Makes ya wonder doesn't it?

I have some skills as a coon hunter and videographer. In short, I know what I am doing when it comes to video taping my dogs. I do hunt places where I can be close enough to get it all.

Here is a video I made over 20 years ago with an old VHS camcorder. The video quality is poor because of the camcorder and because I had to reduce the file size to post it on the internet which also reduced the quality of the video. But, my dogs were good enough to have a coon in both trees. Nuff said.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qt2ihaBJLwI

Here is a video clip I made of a 1 year old female last April. I made it with a $100 AIPTEC camcorder I bought from Sears. No, the video quality is not as good as a $3000 camcorder and I didn't spend $1000 for a lighting system. And, I reduced the file size. But, Angel had the coon.

As for you bashers, let's see YOUR dogs. Put up or shut up!

Seriously Dave... the first video has 3 full minnutes of black screen.

This is supposed to prove how easy it is to video tree dogs?

I would want to see the dog get cut loose If I was thinking about buying or breeding to a dog. Does it get in the dark or stand around and pee first. I would want to see the excitement level it enters the woods with. Other than that it would help you if interested in the dog but it isn't compairable to something you would want to air on tv I wouldn't think.

I think you all are asking to much from the tomorrow's legends videos. Brian did alot of traveling to get these videos and proably was on a tight scedule, to film the dogs the way you all want them would take alot of time. If you only had 2 or 3 dogs to film it proably would not be a problem but with the number of dogs Brian had to film and the distance he had to travel, it would be alot of work. I have all 3 volumes of legends and have enjoyed them all. With me being just a regualr working man, I can't travel all over the country to hunt with these big name dogs and with them being on legends I have my chance to at least see them tree and see some pups off of them. Like I said I have all three and am already looking forward to the next one.

I don't know about the rest of you guys but when my dogs are trailing, I am standing there in the dark listening to the dogs. In 40+ years of coon hunting, there has been a few times I could actually see the dogs trail, but, 99% of the time, I am standing there in the dark. With that being said, when I record the dogs trailing, there is nothing but the dark to record.

As to the value of recording the dogs trailing, it is my opinion that it is important. For one thing, it proves the dogs are not silent trailers. It would be my guess that some of the dogs Brian recorded might have been silent trailers. There is getting to be more and more silent trailing dogs being bred. My trailing videos feature my dog's track mouth. I think the type of track mouth and volumn of the track bark is very important to prospective breeders and pup buyers. I think the locate and roll over is important. Does the dog have a distnict locate and roll over or do you have to guess when the dog is treed?

I have an advantage over Brian doing my dogs. I can record when the conditions are good and at favorable locations. He has to use what he gets on the time the appointment to record the dog. So I sincerely appreciate what he did record. He certainly spends much more time editing and precisely presenting the dogs in the most favorable light. Heck, I just slop my stuff together using entry level equipment and editing software. But, folks that buy my pups can see and hear what their pups are out of. To me, that is a big improvement on just going on what an advertisement says. Believe it or not, there might be a few folks that may not tell the truth in their ads. LOL

Trailing can be presented. The clips I posted prove it, and more important, the treed coons can be taped, (if indeed the coon was treed.) I reckon in a lot of cases, the dogs may have been awarded circle points.LOL There are plenty of Champions made on the benefit of a doubt.

I have known some guy's that have been makin the deer huntin video's for several year's. You may see them on the "Primetime" & "Whitetail Freak's" collection. They are constantly bein asked to come hunt here or there for "FREE" to promote their gig.

Guess I wasn't aware of the fact that ya'll was sellin spot's? Deffinately some good advertising & happy to know that's how it's done cuz I just had it figured as a walker show! No gun sponsor shouldn't hold ya back from showin the true end of the chase. Not very many catch & release huntin show's on the tube & in the rest of the huntin show's without the kill they don't have the footage & it's not salable. But that's not coonhuntin I guess but I sure like seein them big kitty's & bear's get flipped outa the tree's to the hound's.

Ya'll are doin a good job as rookie's & each episode got better as they went along. No doubt with practice & experience it will only get better. I did get a kick outa the episode demonstrating the nite hunt game. It was good don't get me wrong but the babblin every drop & tree leavin was most entertaining to me.

Keep it up & lookin forward to the new season. What's the $$$ to get on board if'n ya don't mind me askin?

I think everyone bashing Bryan is misreading his video's. I have all three and I dont think a one of them said that you could choose your stud from his video only. As for the coons as I remember he showed most of the coons. We videod my dog in July of 09 with the leaves on and got lucky and got his eyes on the video but Im sure some of the other dogs he videod on that trip he did not. When he videod my dog I was the last spot on a 600 mile trip. I think Brians thinking is how would you like to be able to see Lipper treeing or Banjo or preacher or any of the old dogs that set the foundation of the breed. Or swamp rooster or some of the foundation for some of the other breeds. It would be nice to see and these videos he has made will be nice in 20 years also. I like Brians videos but I will be looking forward to buying and watching everyone on here that are experts videos next year of all the stud dogs.

If you want to see free videos of dogs treeing coon, go to the English Classified board and scroll down to the English Power Videos thread. Several folks including myself have posted video clips of their dogs. I have posted some video clips and have lots more to post in the future. I may have 100 English Champions taped. Some of them are English Legands. I used to sell DVDs but these days, I give it away free. I reckon I am too easy.

I know of a video clip of Swamp Rooster that a guy has but he won't post it because shows what a weak mouth may have really had.

As for the Legand's DVDs, I only saw the first one but it didn't show many coons. I am not into Walkers much, so I didn't need the others. I don't show the coon every time in my video clips but I usually do. The dogs tree dens sometimes.

I personally am trying to get guys to make their own videos of their own dogs. It is not hard to do. Most guys could do it better than me.

I am not bashing anyone that produces videos, I am trying to encourage others to make videos. It is the wave of the future. Most 15 year old kids post videos on YouTube these days. My phone records videos. I have a camcorder in my pocket every time I go hunting, day or night.

Did anyone of you people ever think the disapointment was at the men that paid for the service of having there dog on the videos. That they didn't want more too by the third one.
