First off when I'm looking for a new food I don't look at price or brand but flip the bag over and look at the ingredients then I compare the prices. I like a feed that has a meet as the first ingredient. having said that Diamond extreme athlete is my preferred food but I'm having a hard time getting it up here. Oddly enough Costco's brand of feed has pretty good ingredients and a good price to boot.

Sportmix

I switched to Sportmix 26/18 in the blue bag about a month or so ago. The dogs really seem to do well on it. I also like it as its a very small kibble, so the beagle seems to like it better. I can get this for about $25 for 50 lbs - which is nice, as most others have lessened the amout in the bag.

I think the Guys need to be more specific about WHICH of the Exceed dog foods they are feeding. There is a Lamb and Rice formula that is in 44# bags that is comparable to Purina ONE that sells for around $28 . I have fed it and I know it is very good. I know there is a Chicken formula and probably others that are under the name Exceed. Some of it is probably lower quality and in 50# bags according to which formula it is. By my own observation, the name EXCEED applies to several of Sam's dog foods and they are different.

PurinaONE Lamb and Rice, PurinaONE Healthy Weight Formula for the oldies that are retired. I think I've tried every brand I could get my hands on, and have settled on PurineONE about 3 years ago. It's a little more expensive than some, but it's a high quality feed, with great results. A very important item for me is "how easy can I get my hands on it?" You can get it most anywhere around here. Two things that really keep me using it are one, nobody does as much as Purina for the sporting dog events and two, the Purina circle points program puts money back in your wallet.

I feed the blackGold 26/18 currently.I will be putting my 6 yr old on a fit and trim at the end of the season,She is fixed and an easy keeper. The 14 month old i have is always real lean and fit looking but the added cold snap seems like its a little harder to keep weight on her She is about 50lbs and currently eating 5 cups of the 26/18. So i'm debating on going up to the red bag of blackGold for her during the hunting season. Any input would be appreciated.
