Phil

Not sure, I know it's cheap money. This meeting is to try and work out some of the issues internally, find out what type of support can be brought in, to see if the club is even worth saving, what to do to have events with better quality, things of that nature. I think we can all make it work with the limited amount of events there are. This club has what it takes to put on quality events, imo there's just alot of things that need to be worked out.

Can you make it? Grab ahold of big Mike too and bring him along.

Wayne,

I don't know the history of the clubs in your area but it kind reminds me some of what has gone on locally around me.
I've been outspoken about some issues I've noticed around here and my opinions haven't gone unnoticed. Some sure weren't very popular but there must have been some truth to them because many clubs around here are really putting forth some effort to improve the local events.

One group left a longtime club because some older sour members didn't like change, now we've started a new club and it will be interesting to see if they can handle they're club duties on they're own.

Our new club has really made a focus to spread the work around by establishing committees and not asking folks to help out with something they're not interested but instead stressing that if there is something they'd like to see the club offer then someone will have to step up and head that committee. I think we're on the right track.

Another local club has really cut back on the number of events they've had and again trying to shift towards having folks chair certain events and making a better effort to improve the quality of events.

Some other clubs are making more effort as well.

Sometimes you have to get everyone to look in the mirror and acknowledge the faults before you can get them fixed for the betterment of everyone involved.

Good luck to you and the hunters in your area. A little effort by a lot of people is better than a lot of effort by just a few.

Monadnock Sportmans "in it" for 2010!

Phil I agree, I think it was a very productive night. After hearing some of the comments last night it's pretty obvious that there are people that are committed to the club for the right reasons.

I was really glad and surprised to see how much "people wanted to get it done" with the nominations and elected positions as the meeting progressed, just goes to show that it was time.

11 paid members in one night with commitments of at least 4 more by this saturday. We are headed in the right direction!

I think it was a great mix of people, it was great to see new faces and hear new idea's as well. It's not going to be easy but from what I saw just lastnight, we can do it!

Thanks to you, Fawn and everyone else that attended!

Look forward to seeing you next week for our first official meeting.

Monadnock Sportmens Association 2010 Elected Positions:

President - Wayne Dimond
Vice President - Richard Dow
Secretary - Mark York
Treasurer - Phil Byers

Board of Directors:
David Holland (Chair)
Mark Rapoza
Barbara Orcutt
Fawn Byers
Mary Jane Harvey

I also spoke to Deb at Horse & Buggy Feeds right there in Keene about holding a clinic there. (we've been doing business with her for all of my 20+ years at BS) she thought it was a great idea but wanted to check on the insurance liability first, will be talking to her next Monday. It would draw alot of customers into her store at the same time. we'll see. wd

Hey Wayne,
I always enjoyed going to events in Swanzey. I sure hope you guys are able to get things going and have some events like I remember in the early days when I was starting out with my hounds.
Now that I am in Indiana, I can't do alot to help with the reorganizing of the club but do wish you all well. Tell all the old timers I said Hello and that I remember alot of fun times at that club.

Joanne

Hey Joanne

I hope everything is going well for you out there. Yeah it looks like we're on the road to recovery with the club. Alot of new faces and young people with lots of interest. I will pass the word on to the "old timers" that you said hello. Take Care, wd.
