Ill take English any day!! Owned a walker and a black dawg and didnt care for either... They both minded good and behaved but just not very accurate? Just my preference now!

I hunt walkers because alot of other breeds seem to lack in mouth when it comes to females and I like to hunt females. I also don't like listening to one trail around on a track they can't handle all night and walkers as a whole don't seem to do that. I would rather have a hot to medium nosed dog who can go a little farther and tree one in 5 minutes than on who takes 2 hours to work their track to the tree.

I have a walker and a BnT right now. I started with an old Bluetick pot licker that couldn't tree a possum, but I had fun everynight. After that I had a real nice Redtick english female that treed a bunch of coon. I had a walker pup that was coming on nice and someone stole him. After that I had the best dog I ever owned. I didn't get him until he was 9, but had three of the best years I ever had coon hunting. He was a Walker and have stuck with them ever since. The black dog was a present for my daughter. Always wanted a black dog. Also had a Redbone for awhile, but he was mean so he isn't with us anymore.

ive always hunted reddogs there loyle stong headed and dont put up with crap the truth is you dont buy good redbone you make them i got a 5 tr old female id put against anything for seeing coon all nightplus up here in nepa im pretty much the onlyredbone man around i love going to the hunts and winning with them not like those slick treeing walkers breeders today took the nose out of them and put in there mouth lol

I like redbones myself but i'll tell u this right now a good coon dog is never the wrong color. As long as they put meat on the limb it don't matter wat breed it is.

i like an english dog. the line i've been hunting for the lasty 4 to 5 yrs i really like, the are independen as ne thing i've seent. i can count on 1 hand how many times my dog has backed dogs in the last 5 yrs. which is great becuz i'm not gunna have my dogs backin another. but more than anything there are consistant. i did take a dog in to hunt for a guy , she is a walker dog off noturnal kain, she is a nice pup, real independent, split tree and stay!!!!!!!!!!!! real good bout having them coons 2. so don't quess i can kick the walker dogs lol.

JMO walker's have too much tree bred into them anymore, and everyone has them, alot of alligators, i like to hear a bluetick run, but they are to boo hooey for me, the redbones i've hunted with didn't tree as close to the tree as i like, leopards i've went with were TOO gritty. I found the perfect mix in the black and tan breed.

None of my Walkers have too much tree in them. If treeing 3 single coon in a half hour is too much tree them I guess im guilty

I don't like to wait a half hour on a regular basis to tree a coon. I want mine fired in there and treed. With the several walkers I have owned they do that on a regular basis for me.

I hunt Plotts cause I like em. Lots of reasons. Probably a lot of other dogs I would like too, but right now got Plotts and sticking with them for awhile.

I hunt Leopards. I mostly bobcat hunt. Hunted walkers quite a bit but needed a Mtn. Cur to close the deal faster. Thought about it one day and tryied to find a breed that could handle both sides of the track. The Loepard folks said they had the dog for me. I tried them and have never looked back. I still have one Walker but she acts a lot like a Leopard so she stays. Honest, fast and like to put thier teeth into criters. Heads up and ACCURATE!

I started out hunting English. Then I hunted a walker for a guy and I really liked her so I bought her. I liked winning so I stuck with walkers. She was quick, really accurate, independent and loud. And of course there are more slick treeing, mean, junky walkers out there because there are more walkers than anything. It's all about odds and percentages. But when you have a really tough walker they are hard to beat

I started with a blue tick he didn't work out traded him for a walker and have had walkers every sence. I've had every breed there is in the mean time it just seems finding a good one is easier in the walker breed and due to the abundance of walkers they are cheaper to buy you can buy grandnight Waller females all the time between 2 and three thousand but a grandnight redbone or plot female at a younger age would be five thousand plus in most cases so these are the reasons I hunt walkers

Not as apt to fight and if u have a good female u can go to anyone's male and breed but if u have a male you have to buy a female to breed to him most times

Coondogs are like trucks. Everybody likes somethin different and what they like is the best. It all depends on what you want out of your dog. If you are new at this I would go with a walker. They train pretty easy. There are good and bad in every breed (dogs and people).

There's only one right kind. Color doesnt matter. Quick-accurate-independent-consistent-stay put tree dog. If you have this you have what all hunters strive for. If you dont have this get it because once you do half azzed dogs will not cut the mustard. The question for me is what breed offers more of what i described? It is without question walkers. English close second. Its no coincidence they both dominate the 2 main kennel clubs.
