As to the performing to his genetics remark, I would submit this.
Genetically, I should be shaped like my Grandfather, lean and wiry, however, somewhere around the time that I graduated high school, I fell in love with Big Macs and Fries. Now those have huge amounts of fat and even some protein. The meat that is used in those sandwiches is processed heavily. Therefore it probably is not as good as that steak that was simply cut up and packaged from the butcher. Because of Genetics, I have the opportunity to be wiry and lean, but through my choice of diet and subsequent willingness to not workout as much as I used to, I am a little chunkier than Grandpa was.
Feed made the difference. My choice of Feed made the difference. Nothing wrong with what you are feeding by any means, I don't think I said there was. I have tried numerous types of feed, in numerous price ranges. So far, I haven't come across anything in my area that competes with this. I might start looking should I find a problem with it, but until I do, I see no reason to stop feeding it.
Also, keep in mind, I am only feeding one hound, this food does go a long way. It isn't like I am going through a bad a week or even two weeks. Starting my third week today, and I have 60% left in the bag. It works for me, it may not for you. I do not begrudge anyone the right to feed whatever they want, I simply stated what I was feeding and why. I do not have some kind of a superiority complex, or anything like that, just stating some opinions.
