That is true but what does it hurt if they get them in the woods by themselves? They aren't chewing on our dogs doing it.

Sorry JiM....two separate thoughts that kinda got run together.

I believe hunt tests prove the same thing all of the other titles prove. A dog completed the requirements to be given the title...that is it.

They (titles that is) prove NOTHING about the worthiness of any dog to be used in a breeding program. They tell us NOTHING about how a dog earned the title.....

why would anyone complain about a hunt test? why not complain about water races or field trials? the hunt test is about the dogs ability to track, tree a coon and stay put till ya get there in 5 minutes! cmon guys, it's another event we can enter our dogs to have fun, and add to the dogs proof of ability! take the bench shows for instance! so what if a dog can stand perfectly still and looking pretty! CAN IT TRACK, TREE A COON AND STICK RIGHT THERE TILL? if NOT then it AIN'T NO COONDOG! as for breeding to a stud, i would only consider a dog, that i have personally hunted with on numerous occasions and in the best and worst conditions with the same results! i am all for the hunt test and will participate in 1 with 2 different dogs when they have one in these parts! i do have a show champion coonhound, but she'll take the woods over the bench any day of the week! JMO
